S.O 104. - In exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (1 ) of Rule 8 of the Census Rules , 1990 , the Administration of Union territory of Ladakh hereby republish the Notification S.O. 2681 (E) dated 16th June , 2025 issued by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner , India, Ministry of Home Affairs , New Delhi published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary , appended to this notification for information of General public . का.आ. 2681(अ) .- केंद्रीय सरकार, जनगणना अधिनियम, 1948 (1948 का 37) की धारा 3 द्वारा प्रदत्त शक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए और भारत के राजपत्र असाधारण , भाग 2, खंड 3 उपखंड (ii) तारीख 28 मार्च, 2019 में प्रकाशित भारत सरकार के गृह मंत्रालय ( भारत के महारजिस्ट्रार का कार्यालय ) की अधिसूचना संख्यांक का.आ. 1455 (अ) तारीख 26मार्च , 2019 के अधिक्रमण में, उन बातों के सिवाय जिन्हें ऐसे अधिक्रमण से पहले किया गया है या करने का लोप किया गया है, यह घोषणा करती है कि भारत की जनसंख्या की जनगणना वर्ष 2027 के दौरान की जाएगी ।
2. उक्त जनगणना के लिए संदर्भ तारीख , संघ राज्यक्षेत्र लद्दाख के और संघ राज्यक्षेत्र जम्मू-कश्मीर तथा हिमाचल प्रदेश एवं उत्तराखंड राज्योंके हिमाच्छादित अममकालिक क्षेत्रों के मिवाय , मार्च , 2027 के पहले दिन के 00:00 बजे होगी ।
3. संघ राज्यक्षेत्र लद्दाख के लिए और संघ राज्यक्षेत्र जम्मू- कश्मीर तथा हिमाचल प्रदेश एवं उत्तराखंड राज्यों के हिमाच्छादित असमकालिक क्षेत्रों के लिए संदर्भ तारीख अक्तूबर, 2026 के पहले दिन के 00:00 बजे होगी ।

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi , the 16th June , 2025 .
S.O. 2681 ( E ) . In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Census Act, 1948 ( 37 of 1948 ) , and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry ofHome Affairs ( Office of the Registrar General , India ) number S.O. 1455 ( E ) , dated the 26th March , 2019 published in the Gazette of India , Extraordinary , Part II , section 3 , sub - section ( ii ) , dated the 28th March, 2019 , except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession , the Central Government hereby declares that a census of the population of India shall be taken during the year 2027 .
2. The reference date for the said census shall be 00.00 hours of the 1st day of March , 2027 , except for the Union territory of Ladakh and snow - bound non - synchronous areas of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the States of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand .
3. In respect of the Union territory of Ladakh and snow - bound non - synchronous areas of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the States of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand , the reference date shall be 00:00 hours of the 1 day of October , 2026 .
