Leh, the 27th of April, 2026
S.O. 180 . - In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the Jammu and Kashmir Land Revenue Act, 1996 (Act No. XII of Samvat 1996), in its application to the Union territory of Ladakh; the Administration of the Union territory of Ladakh hereby creates the following new Districts, in the Union territory of Ladakh, as under: —
(i) Sham, (Headquarter: Khaltse)
(ii) Nubra, (Headquarter: Diskit)
(iii) Changthang, (Headquarter: Nyoma)
(iv) Zanskar, (Headquarter: Padum) and
(v) Drass, (Headquarter: Drass-Ranbirpura).
LADAKH GAZETTE : EXTRAORDINARY 22. Consequent upon the above creation, the Administration of the Union territory of Ladakh hereby redefines the territorial limits of the existing and newly created Districts as detailed herein after, as follows: —
A. DISTRICT: SHAM comprising of the following Revenue Villages:
1. Khaltsi, 2. Skindiyang, 3. Fotoksar, 4. Wanla, 5. Lamayuru, 6. Kanjee, 7. Bodhkharboo, 8. Haniskote, 9.
Skurbuchan, 10. Lehdo, 11. Kukshow, 12. Domkhar, 13. Takmachik, 14. Dha Bema, 15. Hanu, 16. Garkone, 17.

B. DISTRICT: CHANGTHANG comprising of the following Revenue Villages:

3. The jurisdiction and limits of Sub Divisions, Tehsils, Niabats, Girdawar Quanungo Circles and Patwar Halqas of each District shall be notified separately. Till then, the existing setup will continue.
