Subject : Publication of notification of Parkachik and Rangdum Panchayat Halqas issued by Election Commission for UTs .
Apropos to the subject quoted above , the notification of jurisdiction/ area of Parkachik and Rangdum Panchayat Halqas issued by the Election Commission for UTs vide Notification No : 10-1 / EC/LDH/ 2023 dated : 31.08.2026 , regarding the creation of afore noted Panchayat Halqas is published for information of general masses of Ladakh .
The notification is enclosed herewith .

NOTIFICATION
File No. 10-1/EC / LDH / 2023 Whereas , consequent upon the creation of 05 ( five ) new Districts in the Union Territory of Ladakh , Parkachik Panchayat Halqa of Taisuru Block ( erstwhile Kargil District ) , comprising the Revenue Villages of Parkachik and Rangdum was divided into two different Districts , namely Kargil and Zanskar . Consequently, Revenue Village Parkachik now falls under Taisuru Block of District Kargil , while Revenue Village Rangdum falls under Karsha Block of District Zanskar, which are geographically far apart from each other , and
Whereas , upon a proposal received from the Administration of UT of Ladakh , vide Letter No. A/2615/2026 - RD & PR SECTION / 274-76 dated 20.08.2026 and in pursuance of the powers conferred upon it under Section 2 ( 1 ) (j ) of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act , 1989 , the State Election Commission , Ladakh ( Election Authority) had proposed to divide the erstwhile Parkachik Halqa into two ( 02) separate Panchayat Halqas , namely Parkachik and Rangdum , and
Whereas objections , if any , to the above proposal were invited from all concerned , vide public notice dated 21.08.2026 , giving vide publicity through display at relevant Block/local offices , through AIR , Local newspapers / Channels , social media and State IT portal etc.
Whereas no objection ( s ) have been received during the prescribed period regarding the creation of the Panchayat Halqas .
Now, in pursuance of the powers conferred upon it under Section 2 ( 1 ) (j ) of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act , 1989 , the State Election Commission , Ladakh (Election Authority) hereby notifies new Panchayat Halqas , namely Parkachik and Rangdum , as per Annexure - A.
