NOTIFICATION

No.6-2/EC/LKD/2016 : Whereas a casual vacancy has occurred in the District Panchayat, Lakshadweep, due to the resignation of Shri. Ibrahim Nooge as member elected to Constituency No. 24 (Minicoy-C).

And, whereas, in pursuance of the provisions of Rule 79 of the Lakshadweep (Election to Panchayats) Rules, 1995, the Election Commission for the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, appointed under Section 185 of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Panchayats) Regulation, 1994, vide Notification No. 6-2/EC/LKD/2016 dated 11th July, 2016, called upon the said Constituency to elect a member to fill the said vacancy in accordance with the Lakshadweep Panchayats Regulation, 1994 and the said rules and orders made thereunder.

And, whereas, the poll was taken on 21st August, 2016.

And, whereas, after the counting of votes on 22nd August, 2016, the Returning Officer has declared the result of the election;

F.No. 7/3/2010-CA :- In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 10 (1A) of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, the Administrator, Union Territory of Lakshadweep is pleased to appoint Shri. M.I. Cheriyakoya, Meppadaillam House, Agatti Island as Member, District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Lakshadweep for a term of 5 (Five) years or up to 65 years, whichever is earlier from the date of assuming charge.

This Orders shall come into force with immediate effect.
