NOTIFICATION
No.6-2/EC/LKD/2016 :- Whereas, a casual vacancy has occurred in the Village (Dweep) Panchayat, Kalpeni, Lakshadweep, due to the resignation of Smt. Ramla Beegum M.C., as member elected to Constituency No. 3 of Village (Dweep) Panchayat, Kalpeni, Lakshadweep.
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the provisions of Rule 79 of the Lakshadweep (Election to Panchayats) Rules, 1995, the Election Commission for the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, appointed under Section 185 of the Andaman and Nicobar islands (Panchayats) Regulation, 1994, hereby calls upon the said constituency to elect a member to fill the said vacancy in accordance with the provisions of the Lakshadweep Panchayats Regulation, 1994. The said vacancy is reserved for a woman belonging to the Scheduled Tribes.
With respect to the said election, the Election Commission appoints the following dates:-
(a) the 2nd December, 2016 (Friday), between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm. as the last date and hours for making nominations;
(b) the 3rd December, 2016 (Saturday), 11.00 am, office of the Returning Officer, as the date, time and place for scrutiny of nominations;
(c) the 5th December, 2016 (Monday), 3.00 pm, as the last date and hour for the withdrawal of candidatures;
(d) the 27th December, 2016 (Tuesday), between 8.00 am and 5.00 pm. as the date on which and the hours during which the poll shall, if necessary, be taken and
(e) the 30th December, 2016 (Friday), as the date before which the election shall be completed.
