F.No. 7/3/2003-FCS: In exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (1) of Section 42 and Clause (1) of Section 28 of the Consumer Protection Act 2019 ((35 of 2019) and procedure provided under Rule 6 of the Consumer Protection (Qualification for appointment, method of recruitment, procedure of appointment, term of office, resignation and removal of the President and Members of State Commission and District Commission) Rules 2020, the Administrator UT. of Lakshadweep is pleased to constitute the Selection Committee for appointment of the President and Members of State Commission and District Commission consisting of the following persons:

:Chairperson 2. Secretary (Finance), U. T. of Lakshadweep :Member 3. Secretary ( Consumer Affairs), U. T. of Lakshadweep :Convener The Committee shall have tenure of three years. The Selection Committee shall perform its duties as per the provisions of "Consumer Protection Act, 2019" and the "Consumer Protection (Qualification for appointment, method of recruitment, procedure of appointment, term of office, resignation and removal of the THE LAKSHADWEEP GAZETTE EXTRAORDINARY 2 1. Remuneration of Rs. 10,000/- shall be paid to the Chairperson of the Selection Committee per sitting and also the chairperson shall be entitled for Travel Allowance (T.A.) and Dearness Allowance 2. The Selection Committee shall evaluate the candidates on the basis of qualification and experience of working as prescribed under Rules.
3. The Selection Committee shall on the basis of the evaluation procedure and criteria, select and recommend a panel of the names in order of merit to the State Government for appointment as President and Members of the State Commission and District Commission.
4. The Selection Committee shall also prepare a list of names to fill up vacancies which may arise during the tenure of the Commission.
