NOTIFICATION OF THE SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT

(SUB SECTION 1 of SECTION 4)

Lakshadweep Administration intends to acquire the following land for a public purpose as stated below, as per the relevant provisions of the 'The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 for which Social Impact Assessment study has to be undertaken for the affected area as per Section 4 of the said Act read with Sub rule 1 of Rule 3 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Rules, 2014.

2	Brief Description about purpose of proposed acquisition of land	Agatti Island is a strategically important location within the Lakshadweep archipelago due to its geographical positioning, connectivity, and existing airstrip infrastructure. The increasing administrative, security, and operational requirements in the region necessitate the establishment of dedicated Forward/Field Base Support Units (FBSUs) to enhance response capability, logistical coordination, and long-term strategic presence. C urrently, the absence of a dedicated facility limits the operational efficiency of the concerned unit/department, particularly in areas such as rapid deployment, resource staging, and personnel accommodation. storage, maintenance, Establishing FBSUs will significantly augment regional readiness and improve the effectiveness of ongoing and future missions.

Social Impact Assessment Activities:

1	Consultations	With all the concerned stakeholders of the proposed area including the Gram Sabha.
2	Survey (Organization undertake the study)	Social Impact Assessment & Consent Society, UT of Lakshadweep will complete survey of the proposed area under from the date of acquisition within 2 (Two) months publication of this Notification.
3	Public hearing/s	S.I.A. Unit will decide the time and place for public hearing before submitting the S.I.A. report.
4	Timeline	S.I.A. report and Social Impact Management Plan should be completed within 2 (Two) months from the date of issuance of this notification and to be published on the notice board of Collectorate, Lakshadweep and the concerned Gram Panchayat.
