ककाा..आआ.. 335533((अअ))..—— कें द्रीय सरकार, जनगणना अधिनियम, 1948 (1948 का 37) की धारा 8 की उपधारा (1) के द्वारा प्रदत्त शक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए और भारत के राजपत्र, असाधारण, भाग 2, खंड 3 उपखंड (ii) तारीख 9 जनवरी, 2020 में प्रकाशित भारत सरकार के गृह मंत्रालय (भारत के महारजिस्ट्रार का कार्यालय) की अधिसूचना संख्यांक का.आ. 120(अ) तारीख 7 जनवरी, 2020 के अधिक्रमण में, उन बातों के सिवाय अधिक्रांत करते हुए, जिन्हें ऐसे अधिक्रमण से पहले किया गया है या करने का लोप किया गया है, यह अनुदेश देती है कि वे सभी जनगणना अधिकारी जिसके लिए उन्हें नियुक्त किया गया है, अपनी नियुक्ति से संबंधित स्थानीय क्षेत्रों की सीमाओं के भीतर भारत की जनगणना 2027 के संबंध में मकानसूचीकरण तथा मकानों की गणना अनुसूचियों के माध्यम से जानकारी एकत्र करने के लिए नीचे प्रगणित मदों के संबंध में सभी व्यक्तियों से इस प्रकार के प्रश्न पूछें, अर्थात:-
1. भवन नंबर (नगर या स्थानीय प्राधिकरण अथवा जनगणना नंबर)
2. जनगणना मकान नंबर
3. जनगणना मकान के फर्श में प्रयुक्त प्रमुख सामग्री

New Delhi, the 22nd January 2026
S.O. 353(E) - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 8 of the Census Act, 1948 (37 of 1948), and in supersession of the notification of the Government of Indian the Ministry of Home Affairs (Office of the Registrar General, India) number S.O. 120(E), dated the 7th January 2020 published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), dated the 9th January, 2020, except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Government hereby instructs that all the Census Officers may, within the limits of the local areas for which they have been respectively appointed, ask all such questions from all persons on the items enumerated below for collecting information through the houselisting and housing census schedule in connection with the Census of India 2027 namely:-
1. Building number (Municipal or local authority or census number). 2. Census house number. 3. Predominant material of floor of the census house. 4. Predominant material of wall of the census house. 5. Predominant material of roof of the census house. 6. Ascertain use of census house. 7. Condition of the census house 8. Household number. 9. Total number of persons normally residing in the household. 10. Name of the head of the household. 11. Sex of the head of the household. 12. Whether the head of the household belongs to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other. 13. Ownership status of the census house. 14. Number of dwelling rooms exclusively in possession of the household. 15. Number of married couple(s) living in the household. 16. Main source of drinking water. 17. Availability of drinking water source. 18. Main source of lighting. 19. Access to latrine. 20. Type of latrine. 21. Waste water outlet. 22. Availability of bathing facility. 23. Availability of kitchen and LPG/PNG connection. 24. Main fuel used for cooking. 25. Radio/Transistor. 26. Television. 27. Access to internet. 28. Laptop/Computer. 29. F.No.LD-02002(01)/1/2026-PST-PS&T(1)- In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 and Section 17 of the Census Act, 1948 (37 of 1948), read with Rule 6(d) of the Census Rules, 1990, the Central Government hereby notifies that the work relating to House listing operations of the Census of India 2027 shall be conducted in all States and Union Territories between 1st April, 2026 and 30th September, 2026, during a period of thirty days as specified by each State and Union Territory. An option for self-enumeration shall also be made available, which shall be operational for a period of fifteen days, commencing thirty days prior to the start of the house-to-house House listing and Housing Census work.
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (3) of Rule 8 of the Census Rules, 1990, made under the provisions of the Census Act, 1948 (37 of 1948), the UT Government has decided that the work of the first phase of Census of India 2027, that is House listing and Housing Census, in the UT shall be conducted from 16th April, 2026 to 15th May 2026 in UT of Lakshadweep. The option for self-enumeration shall be operational from 1st April, 2026 to 15th April, 2026.
