NOTIFICATION
F.No:-1/3/2011-Estt (Pol) : In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to the Article 309 of the Constitution of India read with the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs Notification No.2/7/63-LMA dated 4.2.1963, the Administrator, Union Territory of Lakshadweep hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Group C posts in the Lakshadweep Police Department in supersession of Recruitment Rules to various posts in the Lakshadweep Police Department issued vide MHA Notification No.71/4(33)/61-ANL dated 21.11.61, Administrator's Notification No.6/105/69-Genl dated 4.03.70, No.1/10/73-Estt (Pol) dated 12.04.73 and 12.07.74, No.4/13/75-Pol dated 13.10.77, Administrator's Notification No.1/15/77-Estt (Pol) dated 11.12.79, Administrator's Notification No.1/1/86- Estt (Pol) dated 21.11.86 , Administrator's Notification F.No.1/1/86-Estt (Pol) dated 30.06.1995, 25.03.2000 , Notification F.No.1/9/2001-Estt (Pol) Part.I dated 3.12.2009, Notification F.No.1/3/2011-Estt (Pol) dated 19.04.2011, Administrator's Notification F.No.1/6/2008-Estt (Pol)Vol.II dated 11.11.2008. 2 THE LAKSHADWEEP GAZETTE EXTRAORDINARY1. Short Title and Commencement: (i) These Rules may be called the Lakshadweep Police (Group 'C' posts) Revised Recruitment Rules, 2026. (ii) This shall come into force with retrospective effect on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. Number of Posts, classification and scale of pay:- The number of said posts, their classification and the Pay Levels attached thereto shall be as specified in column 2 to 4 of Schedule annexed to these rules.
3. Method of Recruitment, Age limits, Qualifications etc: The method of recruitment, age limits, qualifications and other may connected there with shall be specified in Col.5 to 13 of the said Schedules.
4. Disqualification: No person, (a) Who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse living, or (b) Who, having a spouse living, has entered into or contracted a marriage with any person, shall be eligible for appointment to any of the said posts:
Provided that the Central Government may, if satisfied that such marriage permissible under the personal law applicable to such person and the other party the marriage and that there are other grounds for so doing, exempt any class or category of persons, ex- cept any person for the operation of this rule.
5. Power to relax: Where the Administrator, U.T of Lakshadweep is of the opinion that it is necessary or expedient so to do, he may, by order, for reasons to be recorded writing, relax any of the provisions of these rules, with respect to any class or category of persons, except rule 4 of this rule.
6. Savings: Nothing in these rules shall affect reservation, relaxation of age limit and other concessions required to be provided for Schedule Castes, Schedule Tribe, Ex- Servicemen and other special categories of persons in accordance with the orders issued by the Central Government from time to time in this regard.

Note:- (1) The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date for re- ceipt of applications from candidates in India (and not the closing date prescribed for those in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of J&k State, Lahaul & Spiti district and Pangi Sub Division of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, An- daman & Nicobar Islands or Lakshadweep). 2) Relaxable for Government Servants, SC/ ST Candidates, Ex-servicemen and other special categories of persons in accordance with the instructions/orders issued by the Government of India from time to time. (3) 5 (five) years relaxed for Lakshadweep Home guard volunteers. (4) 5 (five) years age relaxation for Ex-Agniveers.
(5) The upper age limit for recruitment by the method of Direct Open Competitive Examination shall be increased by two years.

iii) Long Jump : 13 feet in 3 chances Ex- servicemen and Lakshadweep Home Guard Volunteer - 11 feet in 3 chances
iv) Chin up : 5 Ex-Servicemen & Lakshadweep Home Guard Volunteer - 4
v) Shot put 7.26 Kgs - 6 Mtrs. Ex-servicemen and Lakshadweep Home Guard Volunteer - 5 Mtrs.
(Female Candidates)
i) Race: 1000 Mtrs. in 6 minutes 30 seconds Ex-Servicemen & Lakshadweep women Home Guard Volunteer– 8 minutes ii) High jump: 2.5 feet in 3 chances, Ex-Servicemen & Lakshadweep women Home Guard Volunteer 2 feet in 3 chances. iii) Long jump: 10 feet in 3 chances. Ex-Servicemen & Lakshadweep women Home Guard Volunteer 8 feet in 3 chances. Bonus marks (i) NCC 'A' Certificate :2% (ii) NCC 'B' Certificate : 3% (iii) NCC 'C' Certificate: 5% (iv) UT/State Level Sports Certificate :1% (v) National Level Sports Certificate: 2% (if both UT/State & National 2%) Eye Sight: Must be certified to possess visual standard specified below without glasses. i) Right Eye: Distance Vision: 6/6 (Snellen) Near Vision : 0.5 (Snellen) ii) Left eye : 6/6 (snellen) Near vision : 0.5 (snellen) iii) Each eye must have a full field of vision.

The selected candidate will undergo Police training of Police Constables of the Central/ States Police Training School/ College/Academy and pass the training. Note: For Ex-Agniveers- Exemption from the physical efficiency test (PET).

This over and above Ex-Servicemen and 5% vacancies is reserved for volunteers of Home Guard who have completed minimum three years as Home Guard and possess the requisite educational and physical qualification and age limit as per these rules.
