In pursuance of clause (3) of article 348 of the Constitution of India, the following translation in English of the Maharashtra Village Panchayats (Second Amendment) Act, 2020 (Maharashtra Act No. XXV of 2020) is hereby published under the authority of the Governor.

MAHARASHTRA ACT No. XXV OF 2020.
(First published, after having received the assent of the Governor in the
"Maharashtra Government Gazette", on the 29th September 2020).
An Act further to amend the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act.
WHEREAS both Houses of the State Legislature were not in session;
AND WHEREAS the Governor of Maharashtra was satisfied that circumstances existed which rendered it necessary for him to take immediate III of 1959.
२ महाराष्ट्र शासन राजपत्र असाधारण भाग आठ, सप्टेंबर २९, २०२०/आशि्वन ७, शके १९४२ 1. (1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Short title and commencement. (Second Amendment) Act, 2020.(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 25th June 2020.
2. In section 151 of the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act, (here- III of 1959.
inafter referred to as "the principal Act") in sub-section (1), in clause (a), Amendment of section 151 of III of 1959.
after the proviso, the following proviso shall be added, namely :–– "Provided further that, if due to natural calamity or emergency or war or financial emergency or administrative difficulties or epidemic disease, the panchayat elections could not be held by the State Election Commission as per the schedule, then, the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint a suitable person as the administrator on such panchayat.".
3. (1) The Maharashtra Village Panchayats (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020 is hereby repealed.

Repeal of Mah. Ord. X of 2020 and saving.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken (including any notification or order issued) under the corresponding provision of the principal Act, as amended by the said Ordinance, shall be deemed to have been done, taken or issued, as the case may be, under the corresponding provisions of said Act, as amended by this Act.
