In pursuance of clause (3) of article 348 of the Constitution of India, the following translation in English of the Maharashtra Village Panchayats (Amendment) Act, 2023 (Mah. Act No. XV of 2023), is hereby published under the authority of the Governor.

An Act further to amend the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act.
III of 1959.
WHEREAS, it is expedient further to amend the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act, for the purposes hereinafter appearing ; it is hereby enacted in the Seventy-fourth Year of the Republic of India, as follows :—
Short title.
1. This Act may be called the Maharashtra Village Panchayats (Amendment) Act, 2023.
२ महाराष्ट्र शासन राजपत्र असाधारण भाग आठ, मार्च २३, २०२३/चैत्र २, शके १९४५(a) in clause (i), for the words "with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one month or with fine which may extend to three hundred rupees or with both", the words "with fine which may extend to one thousand five hundred rupees" shall be substituted ;
(b) in clause (ii), for the words "with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both", the words "with fine which may extend to five thousand rupees" shall be substituted.
