NOTIFICATION

The RighT To FaiR CompensaTion and TRanspaRenCy in Land aCquisiTion, RehabiLiTaTion and ReseTTLemenT aCT, 2013.

No. RPA-2025 / E-Office No. 1672183 / P-1.— Whereas, under sections 52, 53 and 54 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (30 of 2013), in its application to the State of Maharashtra, the Presiding Officer of the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Authority is appointed by the State Government in consultation with the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, and section 54 provides that the term of office is three years from the date on which the Presiding Officer enters upon office or until he attains the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier;

And whereas, Shri Mohd Sadiq Mohd Umar, Retired District Judge, is serving as the Presiding Officer, Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Authority, Nagpur, and his present tenure is up to 30th June 2026;

And whereas, considering the administrative exigency, continuity of judicial work, pendency of references under section 64 of the said Act, and the decision of Government to relax the age and tenure conditions in the present case, it is considered necessary, to extend his tenure further.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 52, 53 and 54 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (30 of 2013), in its application to the State of Maharashtra, the Government of Maharashtra hereby relaxes the age and tenure conditions in the case of Shri Mohd Sadiq Mohd Umar, Retired District Judge, and extends his tenure as the Presiding Officer, Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Authority, Nagpur, for a further period of two years with effect from 1st July 2026 to 30th June 2028, on the existing terms and conditions.
