In pursuance of clause (3) of article 348 of the Constitution of India, the following translation in English of the Maharashtra State Commission for Scheduled Tribes (Amendment) Act, 2026, (Mah. Act No. XXV of 2026), is hereby published under the authority of the Governor.

MAHARASHTRA ACT No. XXV OF 2026.
(First published, after having received the assent of the Governor in the
"Maharashtra Government Gazette", on the 3rd July 2026.)
An Act to amend the Maharashtra State Commission for Scheduled Tribes
Act, 2025.
WHEREAS both Houses of the State Legislature were not in session;
AND WHEREAS the Governor of Maharashtra was satisfied that circumstances existed which rendered it necessary for him to take immediate action to amend the Maharashtra State Commission for Scheduled Tribes Mah. XXXVI of 2025.
२ महाराष्ट्रट शासन राजपत्र असाधाराण भाग आठ, जुलै ३, २०२६/आर्षाढ १२, शाके १९४८AND WHEREAS it is expedient to replace the said Ordinance, by an Act of the State Legislature; it is hereby enacted in the Seventy-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows :—
1. (1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra State Commission for Short title and commencement. Scheduled Tribes (Amendment) Act, 2026.
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 25th May 2026.
Mah. XXXVI of 2025.
2. In section 2 of the Maharashtra State Commission for Scheduled Tribes Act, 2025 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act"), in clause (b), after the word "Chairperson", the word ", Vice-Chairperson" shall be inserted.
Amendment of section 2 of Mah. XXXVI of 2025.
3. In section 3 of the principal Act, in sub-section (2), after clause (a), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:—
Amendment of section 3 of Mah. XXXVI of 2025.
"(a-1) a Vice-Chairperson, who shall be nominated from amongst the members;".
4. (1) The Maharashtra State Commission for Scheduled Tribes (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026 is hereby repealed.
Mah. Ord. IV of 2026.
Repeal of Mah. Ord. IV of 2026 and saving. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken (including any notification, rules or order issued) under the corresponding provisions of the principal Act, as amended by the said Ordinance, shall be deemed to have been done, taken or, as the case may be, issued under the corresponding provisions of the principal Act, as amended by this Act.
