NOTIFICATION

Maharashtra Nurses act, 1966.

No. MEDD-14021/11/2026-MMD(Adhi)E-1691733.— The following draft of rules further to amend the Maharashtra Nursing Council Rules, 1971, which the Government of Maharashtra proposes to make in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (i) of sub-section (2) of section 38 read of the Maharashtra Nurses Act, 1966 (Mah. XL of 1966), and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, is hereby published as required by sub-section (1) of section 38 of the said Act, for the information of all person likely to be affected thereby; and notice is hereby given that, the said draft will be taken into consideration by the Government of Maharashtra on or after 14th day of August 2026.

2. Any objections or suggestions which may be received by the Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra, Medical Education and Drugs Department, Gokuldas Tejpal Hospital Complex Building, 9th Floor, New Mantralaya, Mumbai 400 001, from any person with respect to the said draft, before the aforesaid date will be considered by the Government.

DRAFT RULES

1. Short tittle.— These rules may be called the Maharashtra Nursing Council Rules, 2026.

2. In rule 72 of the Maharashtra Nursing Council Rules, 1971, in sub-rule (1), for clause (b) the following clause shall be substituted, namely:—

"(b) In addition to the above requirements, a candidate who is registered or who has passed the examination conducted by the Nursing Council of any other State, shall submit the original registration certificate and diploma certificates. On production of the said certificates, the candidate shall be issued a Maharashtra Nursing Council registration number, which may be subsequently made permanent after verification of the same from the parent State Registration Council: (१) भाग चार-ब-४१७–१ २ महाराष्ट्रट शासन राजपत्र असाधाराण भाग चारा-ब, जुलै २९, २०२६/श्रावण ७, शाके १९४८

Provided that, if, on verification, the registration certificate submitted by the candidate found to be forged or false, the registration number issued by the Maharashtra Nursing Council shall be withdrawn with immediate effect.".
