FURTHER TO AMEND THE ODISHA LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY DEPUTY SPEAKER'S SALARY AND ALLOWANCES ACT , 1959 .
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Odisha in the Sixty- ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows: -
Shorttitle and commencement .
1. ( 1 ) This Act may be called the Odisha Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker's Salary , Allowances ( Amendment) Act, 2018 .
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of January, 2017 .

Amendment of section 3 -A .
2. In section 3 - A of the Odisha Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker's Salary and Allowances Act , 1959 for the words " one hundred and fifty rupees " , the words " eight hundred rupees " , shall be substituted .
STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS
The Daily Allowances of the Members of Odisha Legislative Assembly has been raised from Rs.800 / - to Rs . 1500/- w.e.f 01.01.2017 for attending Assembly Session or Committee thereof by recent amendment to Odisha Legislative Assembly Member's Salary, Allowances and Pension Act , 1954 , which covers Leader of Opposition , Chief Whip and Deputy Chief Whip .
But , the Daily Sitting Allowance of the Deputy Speaker had remained @ Rs.150/- since 1995.
Keeping in view the disparity , Daily Allowance of the Deputy Speaker has been enhanced from Rs.150/- to Rs.800/- w.e.f 01.01.2017 .
The Bill seeks to achieve the above objectives .
