Consequent to the deficit and uneven distribution of rainfall during the no r t h -ea s t mo n s o o n a n d i n a d e q u a t e r e c e i p t o f C a u v e r y w a t e r, the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry declares the Karaikal District of Union territory of Puducherry as drought hit region for the fasli year 1422.
