NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred under section 29 of the Indian Boilers Act, 1923 (Central Act 5 of 1923), the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry hereby makes amendment to the Puducherry Boilers Rules, 1988, the draft of the same which were issued in the Labour Department's Notification under G.O. Ms. No. 24/AIL/Lab./G/2013, dated the 25th July 2013 were pre-published in the Extraordinary Part-II, No. 26 of the Gazette of Puducherry, dated 29-7-2013 as required under sub-section (1) of section 31 of the said Act and no objection/ suggestion having been received in response thereto, namely:–

1. Short title and commencement.— (1) These rules may be called
the Puducherry Boilers (Amendment) Rules, 2013.
(2) They shall come into force with effect from the date of their
publication in the official gazette.
2. Amendment of rule 6.— In the Puducherry Boilers Rules, 1988
for rule 6, the following shall be substituted, namely:-
"6. Scale of fee for inspection for renewal of certificate.– Every application for inspection for the renewal of certificate under sub-section (3) of section 8 should be accompanied by a fee on the following scale, namely:–
`
For boiler rating not exceeding 10 square metre . . 1,530
For boiler rating exceeding 10 square metre but not . . 1,920 exceeding 30 square metre.
For boiler rating exceeding 30 square metre but not . . 2,290 exceeding 50 square metre.
For boiler rating exceeding 50 square metre but not . . 2,650 exceeding 70 square metre.
For boiler rating exceeding 70 square metre but not . . 3,050 exceeding 90 square metre.
For boiler rating exceeding 90 square metre but not . . 3,440 exceeding 110 square metre.

Above 3,000 square metre for every 200 square metres or part
thereof, an additional fee of ` 750 shall be charged:
Provided that the Chief Inspector may direct that no fee
shall be payable in respect of a fresh application made in
pursuance of sub-section (2) of section 14:
Provided further that when any owner is willing to accept
any renewed certificate for less than twelve months, in order to
approximate the date of annual inspection, the date on which
other boilers in the locality are inspected or for other reasons, 240 LA GAZETTE DE L'ETAT [PART–II
half of the inspection fee shall be levied for a period not exceeding to six months and for certificates for a period exceeding six months but not exceeding twelve months, the full fee prescribed
for a twelve months certificate shall be levied:
Provided also, that an additional fee equal to inspection fee may be charged for the inspection of boiler on a Sunday or on
other public holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act 26 of 1881) if such inspection is made at the request of the owner and the additional fee, so charged shall be paid in
the manner specified under rule 3 and the Inspector who makes the inspections shall be entitled to an allowance equal to half the additional fee so charged for which orders of the Chief Inspector
shall be obtained in such cases as required under rule 18.".
