NOTIFICATION
the Transport Department (Secretariat Wing), Puducherry and (3) G.O. Ms.
No. 34/2004-(Tr.), dated 26th August 2004 of the Transport Department
(Secretariat Wing), Puducherry, the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunals

and Additional Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal were constituted for
all the four regions of this Union Territory for the purpose of
adjudicating upon claims for compensation in respect of accidents
involving death of, or bodily injury to persons, arising out of the use
of motor vehicles, or damage to any property of a third party so arising
or both;
And whereas, the Hon'ble High Court of Judicature at Madras after
taking into consideration of the number of cases that are pending in
Puducherry region and the number of case that are being filed every
month has recommended for constitution of one more Additional Motor
Accidents Claims Tribunal to be headed by a single member in the cadre
of Civil Judge (Senior Division) for the trial of MACTOP cases at
Puducherry, in addition to other Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal
functioning in Puducherry;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections
(1) and (2) of section 165 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Central Act
59 of 1988), the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry is pleased to constitute
one more Additional Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal at Puducherry
region to be headed by a single member in the cadre of Civil Judge
(Senior Division) for the trial of MACTOP cases at Puducherry, in
addition to other Motor Accidents Claims Tribunals functioning in
Puducherry and appoints the Presiding Officer (Sub-Judge) posted as a
single member of the said Additional Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal
for the purpose of adjudicating upon claims for compensation in respect
of accidents involving death of, or bodily injury to persons arising out
of the use of motor vehicles, or damage to any property of a third party
so arising or both, in Puducherry region and for the said purposes, dated 6th August, 1996, namely:-

AMENDMENT
In the said notification,—
(a) after serial number 5A and entries relating thereto, the
following serial number and the entries shall be inserted, namely:-
"5B. Additional Motor Presiding Officer Puducherry
Accidents Claims Tribunal, (Sub-Judge) Region".
