NOTIFICATION
Whereas, in pursuant to the recommendations of the State Level Commission for Backward Classes, Puducherry vide (i) G.O. Ms. No. 9/2001- Wel(SW-II), dated 19-2-2001, (ii) G.O. Ms. No. 13/2002-Wel(SW-II), dated 12-3-2002, (iii) G.O. Ms. No. 26/2002-Wel(SW-II), dated 10-6-2002, (iv) G.O. Ms. No. 56/ 2003-Wel(SW-V), dated 1-12-2003, (v) G.O. Ms. No. 42/2004-Wel(SW-V), dated 9-11-2004, (vi) G.O. Ms. No. 40/2005-Wel(SW-V), dated 28-9-2005, (vii) G.O. Ms. No . 1 9 /2 0 0 7 -Wel( SW-V) , d ated 1 9 -6 -2 0 0 7 , (viii) G.O. Ms. No. 08/2014/SWS, dated 13-02-2015 and (ix) G.O. Ms. No. 2/2016/SWS, dated 3-8-2016 of the Social Welfare Secretariat, Puducherry, 69 castes/communities were notified as "Other Backward Classes" in the Union territory of Puducherry, with the approval of the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry.
LA GAZETTE DE L'ETAT [ PART-I 936 936And whereas, the State Level Commission for Backward Classes, Puducherry, after careful examination and based on Field Inspection Report, have recommended in their Report No. 46, dated 7-2-2017 to insert "Devanga" caste in the entry under Sl. No. 12 in the list of "Other Backward Classes" in the Union territory of Puducherry.
And whereas, the State Level Commission for Backward Classes, Puducherry, after careful examination and based on Field Inspection Report, have recommended in their Reports No. 47, 48, 49, 50 and 51, dated 11-4-2017 to include the "Uppara, Doodekula Saibu/Dudekula, Perike/Perika, Gowda, Chakkala" castes in the list of "Other Backward Classes" in the Union territory of Puducherry.
Now, therefore, the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, is pleased to approve the abovesaid recommendations of the State Level Commission and for the said purpose hereby issues the following further addendum to the Annexure to G.O. Ms. No. 9/2001-Wel(SW-II), dated 19-2-2001 (as amended from time to time), namely:
ADDENDUM
In the Annexure to the G.O. Ms. No. 9/2001-Wel(SW-II), dated 19-2-2001 of the Chief Secretariat (Welfare), Puducherry, after Serial Number 69 and the entries relating thereto, the following shall be included, namely:—
(i) against Serial Number 12, in the existing entries "Kannada Devanga/ Telugu Devanga", the caste "Devanga" shall be included and
(ii) after the Serial Number 6 9 and the entries r elating ther eto , the following shall be included namely:—
Sl. No. 70. "Uppara"
Sl. No. 71. "Doodekula Saibu/Dudekula"
Sl. No. 72. "Perike/Perika"
Sl. No. 73. "Gowda"
Sl. No. 74. "Chakkala"
2. This order shall come into force on and from the date of issue of this notification.
