NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (i) of sub-section (1) of sectio n 6 7 o f the Mo to r Vehicles Act, 1 9 8 8 ( Centr al Act No . 5 9 o f 1 9 8 8 ) , and in supersession of the notification issued in G.O. Ms. No. 03/Tr. Sectt./2012, dated 4th January 2012 and published in Part-I of the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2, dated 11th January 2012, save as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, having regard to all the matters mentioned in sub-section (1) of section 67 of the said Act, her eb y issues the fo llo wing d ir ections regar d ing the fixing o f fares for the Stage Carriages plying under the permits issued by the State Transport Authority, Puducherry, namely:—
[ 1731 ]LA GAZETTE DE L'ETAT [ PART-I 1732 1732 The fares fixed by the State Transport Authority, Puducherry, for Stage Carriages shall not exceed the fares calculated at the rates given below for different Stage Carriages plying in different areas, namely:—
I. Town Service Stage Carriages :
(a) Non A/C Stage Carriages : While plying as Town Services within the limits of the Union territory of Puducherry at the rates as given below, namely:—

Provided that the Town Service Stage Carriages (Non-A/C) performing Night Services, a fare not exceeding double the rate of the above said table shall be charged.
Explanation— In this clause :
(a) "Town Service" means, the Stage Carriage Services within the limits of the area specified under the Explanation to sub-rule (4) of the rule 122 of the Puducherry Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
(b) "Stage" means a distance sp ecified b y the State T ranspo rt Authority, not exceeding 3 kilometres.
(c) "Night Service" means the Town Service Stage Carr iages performing trips in night between 11.00 P.M and 4.00 A.M. within their approved time table.
(b) A/C Stage Carriages : While plying as Town Services within the limits of the Union territory of Puducherry at the rates as given below, namely:—

Explanation— In this clause :
(a) "Town Service" means, the Stage Carriage Services within the limits of the area specified under the Explanation to sub-rule (4) of the rule 122 of the Puducherry Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
(b) "Stage" means a distance specified by the State Transport Authority, not exceeding 3 kilometres.
(c) "Night Service" means the Town Service Stage Carriages performing trips in night between 11.00 P.M and 4.00 A.M. within their
approved time table.
II. Stage Carriages other than Express Stage Carriages :
(a) Non-A/C Stage Carriages :
(i) While plying within the limits of the Union territory of Puducherry, seventy five paise (75 paise) per kilometer on roads in plains :
Provided that for a distance upto 6 kilometres, a fare not exceeding ` 8 (Rupees eight only) shall be charged.
Provided further that nothing in this clause shall apply to the
Town Services.
(b) A/C Stage Carriages :
(i) While plying within the limits of the Union territory of Puducherry, rupee one and paise fifty (` 1.50) per kilometer on roads in plains:
Provided that for a distance upto 6 kilometres, a fare not exceeding ` 16 (Rupees sixteen only) shall be charged.
Provided further that nothing in this clause shall apply to the
Town Services.
III. Express Stage Carriages :
(a) Non-A/C Stage Carriages : While plying within the limits of the Union territory of Puducherry, ninety paise (90 paise) per kilometer on roads in plains:
Pr ovided that for a distance upto 25 kilometr es, a far e not exceeding ` 25 (Rupees twenty five only) shall be charged.
(b) A/C Stage Carriages : While plying within the limits of the Union territory of Puducherry, rupee one and paise eighty (` 1.80) per kilometer on roads in plains:
Provided that for a distance upto 25 kilometres, a fare not exceeding ` 50 (Rupees fifty only) shall be charged.
LA GAZETTE DE L'ETAT [ PART-I 1734 1734Provided that the Inter-State Stage Carriages shall collect such fares as fixed from time to time by the concerned reciprocating States while plying in their limits.
2. The fare determined in accordance with the rates as specified above shall be rounded off to the nearest rupee.
3. The GST as fixed by the Government shall be collected in addition to the above fare, wherever applicable and modified from time to time.
4. This notification shall come into force on and from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
