In exercise of the powers conferred under section 440 of the Puducherry Municipalities Act, 1973 (No. 9 of 1973) and all other powers enabling herein this behalf, the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, makes the following rules further to amend the Puducherry Municipalities [Prevention of Infection and Control of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19)] Rules, 2020 and published in the issue No. 19, Part-II of the Extraordinary Gazette of Puducherry, namely:-

1. Short title, extent and commencement.—(1) These rules may be called the Puducherry Municipalities [Prevention of Infection and Control of Corona Virus Disease (COVlD-19)] (Amendment) Rules, 2020.
(2) They shall extend to the whole of the Union territory of
Puducherry.
(3) They shall come into force with immediate effect.
2. Amendment of rule 5.— In the Puducherry Municipalities [Prevention of Infection and Control of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19)] Rules, 2020 (hereinafter referred to as the Principal rules), for the existing rule 5, the following shall be substituted, namely:-
"5. Authority to impose fine.— The officials in the rank of Sanitary Maistry Grade-II and above in the Municipalities, rank of Village Administrative Officer and above in the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, Constables (who are graduates) and above rank Officers in the Police Department, General Duty Medical Officer and above rank Officers in the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services and Assistant Inspector of Factories, Assistant Inspector of Labour and above rank Officers in the Labour Department are empowered to impose and collect the fine".

In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section (l) of section 501 of the Puducherry Municipalities Act, 1973, read with the rule 5 of the Puducherry Municipalities [Prevention of Infection and Control of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19)] (Amendment) Rules, 2020 279

and in partial modification of the Notification issued vide G.O. Ms. No. 05/LAS/2020, dated 20-04-2020 of the Local Administration Secretariat, Government of Puducherry, the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, hereby authorizes the officials in the rank of Sanitary Maistry Grade-II and above in the Municipalities, rank of Village Administrative Officer and above in the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, Constables (who are graduates) and above rank Officers in the Police Department, General Duty Medical Officer and above rank Officers in the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services and Assistant Inspector of Factories, Assistant Inspector of Labour and above rank Officers in the Labour Department to impose and collect the fine as prescribed in the Puducherry Municipalities [Prevention of Infection and Control of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19)] Rules, 2020 up on the violators of the containment measures specified in the aforesaid rules.

In exercise of the powers conferred under section 211 of the Puducherry Village and Commune Panchayats Act, 1973, read with the rule 5 of the Puducherry Municipalities [Prevention of Infection and Control of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19)] (Amendment) Rules, 2020 and in partial modification of the notification issued vide G.O. Ms. No. 06/LAS/2020, dated 20-04-2020 of the Local Administration Secretariat, Government of Puducherry, the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, hereby authorizes the officials in the rank of Sanitary Maistry Grade-II and above in the Commune Panchayats, rank of Village Administrative Officer and above in the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, Constables (who are graduates) and above rank Officers in the Police 280 LA GAZETTE DE L'ETAT [PART–II
Department, General Duty Medical Officer and above rank Officers in the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services and Assistant Inspector of Factories, Assistant Inspector of Labour and above rank Officers in the Labour Department to impose and collect the fine as prescribed in the Puducherry Municipalities [Prevention of Infection and Control of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19)] Rules, 2020 as extended to Commune Panchayats vide Notification issued in G.O. Ms. No. 04/LAS/2020, dated 20-04-2020 of the Local Administration Secretariat, Government of Puducherry, up on the violators of the containment measures specified in the aforesaid rules.
