NOTIFICATION
Whereas, the President of India has, in excercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 51 of the Government of Union Territories Act, 1963 (20 of 1963), been pleased to place the Legislative Assembly of the Union territory of Puducherry, under suspended animation on 25th February, 2021 until the constitution of the 15th Legislative Assembly of Puducherry; and
Whereas, in terms of sub-section (1) of section 15 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), a General Election has to be held for the purpose of constituting a new Legislative Assembly of the Union territory of Puducherry;
Now, therefore, as recommended by the Election Commission of India in pursuance of sub-section (2) of section 15 of the said Act, the Lieutenant- Governor of Union territory of Puducherry is hereby pleased to call upon all Assembly Constituencies in the Union Territory, to elect Members to the Legislative Assembly of the Union territory of Puducherry, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder.
