ORDER

Sanction of the Hon'ble Lieutenant-Governor, is hereby accorded for constitution of District Electricity Committee, one for Puducherry District comprising of Puducherry, Mahe and Yanam regions and another for Karaikal District for the implementation of Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in the Union territory of Puducherry, in accordance with sub-section (4) of the section 166 of the Electricity Act, 2003.

2. The Committee shall meet periodically at the District Headquarters at least once in three months to review and coordinate overall development of power supply infrastructure in the District in accordance with the Scheme of the Government with the following functions:

(a) To review the development of Sub-transmission and Distribution Network including regular operations and maintenance of network-identifying further areas where strengthening is needed.

(b) To review the impact of the works on quality of power supply and consumer satisfaction and ensure promotion of energy efficiency and energy conservation.

(c) To review the Complaints and Grievances Redressal System.

(d) The Convenor shall issue the minutes of the meeting.

(e) The Member-Secretary should ensure that the requisite meetings take place and quarterly report sent to the Nodal Agency.

In compliance with the directives issued by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, under Article 142 of the Constitution of India, in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 350 of 1993 in the matter of Islamic Academy of Education and Another Vs. State of Karnataka and Others, dated 14-08-2003, "Admission Committee" for overseeing the admission of candidates to various Professional Courses offered by the Unaided Private Professional Colleges functioning in the Union territory of Puducherry was constituted vide (1) G.O. Ms. No. 01, dated 05-02-2020 of the Chief Secretariat (Higher and Technical Education), Puducherry. The Hon'ble Mrs. Justice S. Ramathilagam, retired Judge of the Hon'ble High Court of Judicature at Madras, who was appointed as the Chairman of Admission Committee vide G.O. Ms. No. 01, dated 05-02-2020 of the Chief Secretariat (Higher and Technical Education), Puducherry, has relinquished her charges from the post of Chairman of Admission Committee.

2. Therefore, on the recommendation of the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Madras, the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, is pleased to appoint Hon'ble Justice Thiru M. Jaichandren, Judge (Retired), High Court, Madras, as Chairman of the "Admission Committee" for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charges or till the necessity thereof ceases, whichever is earlier.

3. The terms and conditions/entitlements for the Chairman, Admission Committee are as specified below:

4. The Director of Higher and Technical Education, Puducherry, is declared as the Drawing and Disbursing Officer for the purpose of drawing the honorarium/entitlements of the Chairman and other expenses relating to the above-mentioned Admission Committe during its tenure.

5. The expenditure on the payment of Honorarium, Sitting Fees, other Allowances and Conveyance charges to the Chairman shall be debitable to the Head of Account "2203 - Technical Education -001- Direction and Administration 001(02) - Directorate of Higher and Technical Education - 001(02) Puducherry Region (28) Professional Services and (11) Domestic TE" in the budget.

6. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department vide their I.D No. 4427/FC/FD/F4/A4/ 2021-2022, dated 16-02-2022.
