ORDER

The Puducherry State Sports Council (PSSC) was established in 1980 as a Registered Society for release of financial assistance to the State Sports Associations to promote Sports and Games in the Union territory of Puducherry. A Registered Society 'The Rajiv Gandhi School of Sports (RGSS)' was established in 1988 to identify sports talent among the children at School level and to nurture and foster their talent in sports. These two Societies are functioning under the control of Directorate of School Education and are fully funded by the Government of Puducherry. At present, the activities relating to Sports and Youth Affairs are dealt by the Puducherry State Sports Council and the Rajiv Gandhi School of Sports, separately.

the main organization to undertake all centrally sponsored sports related programmes or Central Sector Schemes like Khelo India, etc. All matters relating to sports and youth affairs and implementation of programmes/schemes of Puducherry State Sports Council and Rajiv Gandhi School of Sports shall be entrusted to the Sports Development Authority of Puducherry. Consequent to constitution of the authority, the Puducherry State Sports Council and Rajiv Gandhi School of Sports shall cease to exist. The amalgamation of these two Societies shall be with the existing staff strength with their rank and position. The Assets and Liabilities of the Puducherry State Sports Council and Rajiv Gandhi School of Sports shall be taken over by the Authority. The Sports Development Authority of Puducherry will be located at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Uppalam, Puducherry. The Branch Offices can be setup in outlying regions of Union territory of Puducherry.

(ii) The Authority shall consist of the following Members including ex officio Members:-

2. In Government of India, Sports Authority of India (SAI) had been constituted for promoting sports and for achieving sports excellence at the National Level and International Level. Many States/Union Territories have set up a separate Sports Development Authority for the promotion of sports. Following the footsteps of other States, the Directorate of School Education, Puducherry, has proposed to constitute a single organization "Sports Development Authority of Puducherry" by merging 'Puducherry State Sports Council' and 'Rajiv Gandhi School of Sports' functioning under the control of Directorate of School Education, Puducherry. The Government of Puducherry has approved the proposal of setting up of a new Society "Sports Development Authority of Puducherry (SDAP)" by merging 'Puducherry State Sports Council (PSSC) and 'Rajiv Gandhi School of Sports (RGSS)' vide I.D.No. 20231/CM/OSD/PA/2022, dated 01-09-2022.

3. After careful consideration of the proposal, the sanction of the Lieutenant-Governor is hereby conveyed for setting up of 'Sports Development Authority of Puducherry" by merging 'Puducherry State Sports Council' and 'Rajiv Gandhi School of Sports' functioning under the control of Directorate of School Education, Puducherry.

4. The Lieutenant-Governor further orders that:-

(iii) The Authority shall have an Executive Committee (EC) which will look after the administration of the Authority. The composition of the Executive Committee shall be as follows:– Sl. Members of Executive Power of No. Committee Executive Committee (1) (2)

(iv) All the Non-official Members of the Society shall be nominated for a period of two years. The Government shall have the discretion to terminate the tenure of any Non-official Member even within this period for valid reasons.

(v) Funds for the proper functioning of this Authority sholl be allotted by the Government of Puducherry, the Government of India, Sports Authority of India and by donations and contributions. The Authority shall be free to take measures for resource mobilization through festival matches, Sports competitions or by other innovative means. The Authority shall be free to receive donations from Philanthropists, Industrialists, Bankers and any other Organizations.

(vi) The Director, Directorate of School Education shall take necessary steps to register the Sports Development Authority of Puducherry as a Society, immediately. In particular, the Memorandum of Association and the objectives of the Puducherry State Sports Council and Rajiv Gandhi School of Sports as are annexed to this order shall be incorporated in the Memorandum of Association and the objectives of the new Society, proposed to be constituted.

5. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department, Puducherry vide their I.D.No. 4806/FD/F3/ 2022-23, dated 13-06-2022.

NOTIFICATION

In supersession of the G. O. Ms. No.126, dated 19-10-2005 of the Chief Secretariat (Education), Puducherry, the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, is pleased to amend the following percentage in the horizontal reservation of seats to the Wards of Ex-Servicemen for admission to various courses in the Higher Educational Institutions including Medical and Technical/Professional Colleges in the Union territory of Puducherry with immediate effect.

AMENDMENT

In para. 2 of the G. O. Ms. No. 23, dated 08-03-2001 of the Chief Secretariat (Education), Puducherry, for the entries at Sl. No. 5 under the clause "II. Horizontal Reservation", the following shall be substituted, namely:– "5. Wards of : 1% for all Under Graduate/ Ex-Servicemen. Postgraduate Degree in Medical/

Dental courses;

3% for all other courses".

2. The other conditions of the G. O. Ms. No. 23, dated 08-03-2001 of the Chief Secretariat (Education), Puducherry, remain unaltered.
