Hon’ble Supreme Court of India by order, dated 06th August, 2008 in W.P., (Civil) No(s). 440 of 2000 in the matter of Geeta Seshamal Vs. U.O.I. and another, directed the states to constitute State Animal Welfare Board and that the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCAs) be constituted in every District as contemplated under the Rules.
