NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (4) of section 8 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 (Central Act 25 of 1955), the Lieutenant-Governor, Puducherry, hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Puducherry Hindu Marriage (Registration) Rules, 1969 notified in G.O. Ms. No. 15, dated 7th April, 1969 of the Revenue Department, Government of Pondicherry and published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 49, dated 12th April, 1969, namely:-

1. Short title, extent and commencement.— (1) These rules may be called the Puducherry Hindu Marriage (Registration) Amendment Rules, 2025.
(2) It shall extend to the whole of the Union territory of
Puducherry.
(3) They shall come into force on and from the date of their
publication in the Official Gazette.
2. Amendment of Rule 16.— In the Puducherry Hindu Marriage (Registration) Rules, 1969, for Rule 16, the following shall be substituted, namely:-
"16. Schedule of fees :- The following fees shall be levied by
the Marriage Registrar:-

(i) For the registration of a marriage (to be paid by the . . 100.00
parties to the marriage) which will be exclusive of any other fees levied by devasthanams for marriages in temples.

Marriage Register (to be paid by the Applicant).
(iii) For making a search (to be paid by the Applicant)
(a) If, the entry is of the current year . . 10.00
(b) If, the entry relates to any previous year or . . 10.00
years (for each such year).
(iv) Computer fees.

Provided that no search fee shall be levied for grant of a certified copy of an entry in the Hindu Marriage Register on application at the time of registration of the marriage:
Provided further that an application fee of rupees two in the shape of Court-fee labels affixed to the Application shall be levied for each copy Application presented of such Certified copy.

(v) For registering a marriage at any place outside the Office of the Marriage Registrar, rupees ten shall be appropriated by the Marriage Registrar, in addition to the fee in entry (i) above (to be paid by the parties to the marriage).
The fees prescribed above shall be paid either in person or
remitted by money order to the Marriage Registrar".
