further to amend the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, in its application
to the State of Punjab.
1. (1) This Act may be called the Code of Civil Procedure (Punjab Short title and commencement.
Amendment) Act, 2020.
(2) It shall extend to the whole of the State of Punjab.

(3) It shall come into force on and with effect from the date of its
publication in the Official Gazette.
Amendment of 2. In the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, in its application to the State of
section 60 of
Central Act 5 of Punjab, in section 60, in sub-section (1), in the proviso, in clause (b), after the
1908. words and sign "judgment–debtor is an agriculturalist,", the words and sign
"his agricultural land to the extent of two and half acres," shall be inserted.

Statement of Objects and Reasons
The Code of Civil Procedure (Punjab Amendment) Bill, 2020 is
aimed to protect farmers from attachment of land as a consequence of an
agreement or otherwise, with a view to safeguard their livelihood.
