NOTIFICATION

The 27th November, 2020

No. 5/7/2019/MEO/DA/4640.-Whereas the Government issued the final notification No.5 / 7 / 2019/ MEO/DA/4193 and No. 4200, dated 09-11-2020 in respect of delimitation scheme of Municipal Council, Bhawanigarh and sent for further election preparations to State Election Commission vide letter No. 5 /7/2019/ MEO / DA / 4206, dated 09-11-2020 but the said final notification was challenged by Honey Kansal versus State of Punjab and Others vide CWP.No.19600 of 2020.

Whereas in pursuance of the directions given by the hon'ble Punjab and Haryana High Court on dated 18-11-2020 during the hearing, the final notifications was withdrawn and in compliance of the court directions, vide draft notification No. 5 / 7 / 2019 / MEO / DA / 4380, dated 18-11-2020 suggestions were re-invited from the affected persons.

And whereas after due consideration of the said objections / suggestions which received through the Executive Officer, Municipal Council, Bhawanigarh, the delimitation scheme of the said council is finalised.

And now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred under section 240 (1) (b) and (c) of Punjab Municipal Act, 1911 read with Rule 9 of the Delimitation of Wards of Municipalities Rules, 1972 and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to determine the seat numbers reserved for General, Scheduled Castes, Women (including Scheduled Castes Women) and for Backward Classes in Municipal Council, Bhawanigarh District Sangrur as under :-

Note :- All the previous notifications, if any, regarding seat number reserved for General, Scheduled Castes, Women (including Scheduled Castes Women) and for Backward Classes in the above mentioned municipality shall be deemed to have been cancelled with immediate effect from the date of issuance of this notification.
