GOVERNMENT OF PUNJAB DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT (MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS OFFICE) NOTIFICATION
The 16th April, 2021
No. 5/1/2020/MEO/DA/1125.-Whereas the State Government has determined the total number of elected councillors vide notification No. 5/7/2016/MEO/DA/2636, dated 23-12-2019 as required under rule 3 and 4 of the Determination of numbers of Elected Members and Reservation of Offices of Presidents of Municipalities Rules, 1994 read with section 8 of the Punjab Municipal Act, 1911 in respect of Municipal Council, Rampura Phul.
2. And whereas Section 8 of the said Act has been substituted, vide new amendment Punjab Municipal Act No. 14 of 2017 and provisions of clauses read with rules 3 and 4 of the Determination of the number of Elected members and Reservation of Offices of Presidents of Municipalities Rules, 1994, have further been amended accordingly vide notification No. G.S.R.31/P.A.3/1911/S 240/Amd.(7)/2020, dated 10th June, 2020.
3. And whereas the general elections of the following Municipal Council, Rampura Phul is due and after coming into existence the new rules, it is necessary to apply new reservation to the said Municipal Council by reserving the wards to give effect one half reservation of women.
4. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 8 of the Punjab Municipal Act, 1911, read with rules 3 and 4 of the Determination of the number of Elected members and Reservation of Offices of Presidents of Municipalities Rules, 1994 amended vide above said notification and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to reserve and specify the seats for the purpose of holding of general election to the said Municipal Council, Rampura Phul mentioned below:-
