NOTIFICATION

No. Labour-Lab0PSCA/1/2024-2L/991495.–Whereas the General and Bye-Election to 5 Municipal Corporations and Various Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats -2024 for which poll shall be held in the State, as per Memo No. SEC-PE-SAM-2024/9689, Chandigarh Dated 09-12-2024 of State Election Commission, Punjab and whereas, it is considered necessary to provide opportunity to those workers who are working in registered Shops and Establishments in the State of Punjab and are enrolled as voter within the revenue jurisdiction of the Municipal corporations and Various Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats, to exercise their franchise.
Now, therefore in exercise the power conferred by sub-section 1 of Section 10 of the Shops and Commercial Establishment Act, 1958 and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, Governor of Punjab is pleased to exempt those workers who are working in the registered Shops and Establishments situated in the State of Punjab and are enrolled as voter within the revenue jurisdiction of the Municipal corporations and Various Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats,, from the operations of provisions of sub-section 1 of Section 10 of the said act on the date of poll 21st December, 2024 (Saturday). However, 21st December, 2024 (Saturday) shall not be a 'Closed Day' in lieu of weekly off falling between 15th December 2024 and 21st December, 2024.
