NOTIFICATION

No.06/05/2021-6Hg1/2793.-Whereas, land acquisition proceedings in respect of required land of 15.6250 Acres for the public purpose named as construction of 200 feet wide sector dividing Road 96/97, 106/ 107 and 109/110 in the area of villages Bhago Majra and Manak Majra, Tehsil Mohali, District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar were initiated by publishing a preliminary notification under section 4 of the "Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013" On 08.03.2021 and the publication of Social Impact Assessment Study was made under Section 6 of the ibid Act to be read with 24(1).
Whereas, Department of Housing and Urban Development had notified the section 11 notification and Us 19 notification on 08.01.2022 and on 06.01.2023 respectively under the ibid Act. Accordingly, the announcement of award U/s-26 of "The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013" was supposed to be made by 31.12.2024 including the extension granted by Competent Authority for the announcement of award. However, Hon'ble High Court in CWP no.11131 of 2023 titled as Jegtar Singh and others versus State of Punjab and others directed to maintain status quo regarding possession till next date of hearing and the case is listed for next hearing on 26.03.2025. In compliance of Hon'ble Court orders award for acquisition of land was not announced even in the extended time period.
Therefore, in view of the above, the Governor of Punjab is satisfied that the period of announcement of award needs extension as acquisition of the land is necessitated in the public interest. Thus, in exercise of the powers conferred under U/s 25 of "The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, PART I] PUNJAB GOVT. GAZ., JANUARY 10, 2025 (PAUSA 20, 1946 SAKA) 21 Governor of Punjab is pleased to notify the further extension in the time period of announcement of award of the above project from 01.01.2025 to 30.06.2025.
