No. 1/1-Dir (Plg)-2026/90.- The Governor of Punjab is pleased to constitute Backward Area identification Committee as under:-
I. Chief Secretary, Punjab
- Chairperson II. Financial Commissioner Revenue, Punjab - Member
III. Administrative Secretary to Government of Punjab - Member
Department of Planning
IV. Administrative Secretary to Government of Punjab - Member
Department of SCs & BCs
V. Administrative Secretary to Government of Punjab - Member
Department of Local Government
VI. Administrative Secretary to Government of Punjab - Member
Department of Rural Development & Panchayats
VII. Head of Department, Directorate of Statistics - Member Secretary
The Headquarters of the committee shall be at Chandigarh. The committee shall meet from time to time and at a place to be decided by the chairman of the committee.
PUNJAB GOVT. GAZ. (EXTRA), JANUARY 7, 2026 (PAUSA 17, 1947 SAKA) 220 II. The Committee will select the areas to be included for processing for declaration of backward area. III. The committee will recommend the area to be declared as backward in Punjab specifically ordered by the Government.IV. Any other related functions that may be assigned by the Government regarding Backward Area.
The term of the committee will be on the permanent basis.
