NOTIFICATIONS BY THE ELECTION COMMISSION OF INDIA

APPOINTMENT OF DATES FOR VARIOUS STAGES OF ELECTION AND FIXATION OF HOURS OF POLL FOR 8. VELLORE PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY IN THE STATE OF TAMIL NADU No. SRO G-49/2019.

The following Notifi cation of the Election Commission of India, Nirvachan Sadan, Ashoka Road, New Delhi-110 001, dated 11th July, 2019 [20 Ashadha, 1941 (Saka)] is republished:—

No. 464/EPS/2019(2):-WHEREAS, the President of India had, by Notification issued under sub-section (2) of Section 14 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951) and published in the Gazette of India on the 19th March, 2019 (Tuesday), been pleased to call upon 8-Vellore Parliamentary Constituency of Tamil Nadu, alongwith other Parliamentary Constituencies mentioned therein to elect members to the House of People in accordance with the provision of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder; and

2. In pursuance of Sections 30 and 56 of the said Act, the Election Commission of India had vide notifi cation No. 464/EPS/2019(2), dated 19th March 2019, appointed the dates for the schedule of election from the said 8-Vellore Parliamentary Constituency; and

3. Whereas, in pursuance of the Commission's Proceedings No.464/ECI/LET/TERR/TN/SS-I/2019, dated 16th April 2019, the President of India rescinded the election from said 8-Vellore Parliamentary Constituency of Tamil Nadu;

4. Whereas, the President of India vide further notifi cation issued under sub-section (2) of Section 14 of the Representation of the People Act has been pleased to call upon 8-Vellore Parliamentary Constituency of Tamil Nadu, to elect member to the House of People in accordance with the provisions of said Act, as rule and order made therein.

5. Now, therefore, in pursuance of Sections 30 and 56 of the said Act, the Election Commission of India hereby-[ 1 ] V-4 Ex-(295)—1 2 TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETTE EXTRAORDINARY (A) Appoints, with respect to the said election in 8-Vellore Parliamentary Constituency of Tamil Nadu;

(a) the 18th July, 2019 (Thursday), as the last date for making nominations;

(b) the 19th July, 2019 (Friday), as the date for Scrutiny of Nominations;

(c) the 22nd July, 2019 (Monday), as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures;

(d) the 5th August, 2019 (Monday), as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken;

(e) the 11th August, 2019 (Sunday), as the date before which the election shall be completed; and (B) Fixes the hours from 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., as the hours during which the poll shall, if necessary, be taken on the date specifi ed above, for the election.
