REVENUE ADMINISTRATION - JURISDICTION - BIFURCATION OF VILUPPURAM DISTRICT - CREATION OF KALLAKURICHI NEW DISTRICT UNDER THE TAMIL NADU DISTRICT LIMITS ACT. [G.O. Ms. No. 425, Revenue and Disaster Management, Revenue Administration Wing, [RA1(1)], 12th November 2019, ஐப்பசி 26, விகாரி, திருவள்ளுவர் ஆண்டு-2050.]

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 1 of the Tamil Nadu Districts Limits Act, 1865 (Tamil Nadu Act 1 of 1865), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby directs that with effect on and from 12th November 2019.
(i) Viluppuram District is bifurcated into Viluppuram and Kallakurichi Districts as follows:-
a. Viluppuram District with Head Quarters at Viluppuram.
b. Kallakurichi District with Head Quarters at Kallakurichi.
(ii) Two Revenue Divisions of Viluppuram & Tindivanam and Nine Taluks of Viluppuram, Vikravandi, Vanur, Thiruvennainallur (New), Tindivanam, Gingee, Melmalaiyanur, Marakkanam & Kandachipuram shall constitute the Viluppuram District.
(iii) Two Revenue Divisions of Kallakurichi & Tirukoilur and Six Taluks of Kallakurichi, Sankarapuram, Chinnasalem, Tirukoilur, Ulundurpet, & Kalvarayan Hills (New) shall constitute the Kallakurichi New District.
