REVENUE ADMINISTRATION - JURISDICTION - BIFURCATION OF TIRUNELVELI DISTRICT - CREATION OF TENKASI NEW DISTRICT UNDER THE TAMIL NADU DISTRICT LIMITS ACT.

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 1 of the Tamil Nadu Districts Limits Act, 1865 (Tamil Nadu Act 1 of 1865), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby directs that with effect on and from 12th November 2019.
(i) Tirunelveli District is bifurcated into Tirunelveli and Tenkasi Districts as follows:-
a. Tirunelveli District with Head Quarters at Tirunelveli.
b. Tenkasi District with Head Quarters at Tenkasi.
(ii) Two Divisions of Tirunelveli & Cheranmahadevi and Eight Taluks of Tirunelveli, Palayamkottai, Manur, Nanguneri, Radhapuram, Ambasamudram, Cheranmahadevi & Thisayanvilai shall constitute the Tirunelveli District. (iii) Two Divisions of Tenkasi & Sankarankovil (New) and Eight Taluks of Tenkasi, Shencottai, Kadayanallur, Sivagiri, Veerakeralampudur, Sankarankovil, Thiruvengadam & Alangulam shall constitute the Tenkasi New District.
