Tamil Nadu Acts and Ordinances
The following Act of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly received the
assent of the Governor on the 28th July 2020 and is hereby published
for general information:—
ACT No. 18 OF 2020.
An Act further to amend the Tamil Nadu Fiscal
Responsibility Act, 2003.
B(cid:3469) it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Tamil Nadu in
the Seventy First Year of the Republic of India as follows:—
1. (1) This Act may be called the Tamil Nadu Fiscal Responsibility Short title and (Amendment) Act, 2020.

(2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government
may, by notifi cation, appoint.
Amendment of Tamil Nadu Act
2. In Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Fiscal Responsibility Act, 2003, in
section 4.
16 of 2003.
sub-section (2), for clause (a), the following clause shall be substituted,
namely:-
"(a) reduce the ratio of revenue defi cit to revenue receipt every year
by three per cent to fi ve per cent depending on the economic situation in that
year beginning from fi nancial year 2002-2003 and eliminate revenue defi cit
by 2021-2022 and adhere to it thereafter;".
