Panel of Three Names to the Chancellor for the Appointment of the Vice-Chancellor.

It is hereby notifi ed that in accordance with sub sections (1) and (2) of Section 12 of the Tamil University Act 1982 and under the heading "D, Committee for recommending a panel for Vice Chancellorship" in Chapter XXV of the Tamil University Statutes, elections will be held for nominating one person by the Senate of the University and two persons by the Syndicate of the University to serve on the committee of fi ve who are to suggest a panel of three names to the Chancellor for the appointment of the Vice Chancellor. The election will be held in accordance with the Statutes under Chapter XXV. Each member of the Senate shall have the right to nominate not more than one person who is not a member of any of the authorities of the University to the said committee. Similarly each member of the Syndicate shall have the right to nominate not more than two persons who are not members of any of the authorities of the University to the said committee. Every nomination by a member of the Syndicate shall be in writing signed by the proposer and seconded in writing by another member of the Syndicate called the seconder in the prescribed form. Similarly every nomination by a member of the Senate shall be in writing signed by the proposer and seconded in writing by another member of the Senate called the Seconder in the prescribed form. The prescribed form may be obtained from the Registrar on a written requisition signed by any member of the Syndicate and the Senate. No nomination shall be valid unless it contains the signatures of both the proposer and the seconder and the nomination shall also be signed by the person proposed expressing his consent to be nominated.
Every nomination must be presented before the Registrar either by the proposer or the seconder or the person proposed before 3 p.m. on Thursday the 20th May 2021.
The Scrutiny of nomination will take place at 3.30 p.m. on the 20th May 2021 at the offi ce of the Registrar, Tamil University, Thanjavur. The proposer or the seconder or the proposed nominees are entitled to be present at the time of scrutiny.
The following is the programme for election.
1. Publication of the list of valid nominations : Evening of Thursday the 20th May 2021. to the candidates validly nominated
2. Last day and hour by which the candidates may : Tuesday the 1st June 2021 3 p.m. withdraw their candidature by notice in writing.
3. Despatch of Final list of candidates validly nominated : Tuesday the 1st June 2021 if there is to be an election.
4. Dated and hour of poll at the meeting : Wednesday 16th June 2021 10.30 a.m - 11.30 a.m for Syndicate : Wednesday 16th June 2021 12.00 p.m - 1.30 p.m for Senate If the number of persons validly nominated and who have not withdrawn is more than one for the Senate and more than two for Syndicate, an election will be held at a meeting of the Syndicate on 16th June 2021 from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and at a meeting of the Senate on 16th June 2021 from 12.00 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. Thanjavur-613 010, Dr. K.
