It is hereby notifi ed that the election to [i] THE SYNDICATE and [ii] THE ACADEMIC COUNCIL will be held under Section 18-1 [a] – Other Members, sub-section [1] and Section 23-1[a] – Other Members, sub-section [1] of the Madras University Act, 1923 respectively.
[i] TO THE SYNDICATE (Section 18-1[a]–Other Members, Sub-Section [1])
ONE MEMBER to be elected by the Senate from among its members
The newly elected member will hold offi ce as member of the Syndicate from the last date of receipt of nomination / the withdrawal/the date of election whichever is applicable for the election, as the case may be for the residual period up to 30.03.2024.
[ii] TO THE ACADEMIC COUNCIL (Section 23-1[a]–Other Members, Sub-Section[1])
FIVE MEMBERS to be elected by the Senate from among its members who are
not engaged in teaching
The newly elected members will hold offi ce as member of the Academic Council for a period of three years from the date of receipt of nomination / the date of withdrawal / the date of election / the date of declaration of results whichever is applicable for the election.
The above election will be conducted on the date of the Meeting of the Senate scheduled to be held on SATURDAY, the 30th OCTOBER 2021.

Notice of Election of One member to the Governing Council of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical
University, Chennai by the University Professors from among themselves

Notice is hereby given that an election by direct polling is to be held in the University premises for electing of One member to the Governing Council by the Professors of this University of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, as per clause (c) of sub-section (4) of Section 21 of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Act, 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 37 of 1987) by the University Professors from among themselves to fi ll up the existing vacancy. The term of membership in the Governing Council will be for a period of three years from the date of publication of the results of the election (i.e.) 12.11.2021 or the date on which he/she ceases to be the Member of this University.
2. Forms of Nomination may be obtained from the Registrar, who is the Returning Offi cer from 13.10.2021 to 25.10.2021 between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. (on all working days)
3. The fi lled-in Nomination paper may be sent through the enclosed envelope addressed to the Registrar I Returning Offi cer and superscribed "Nomination for Election to the Governing Council" as indicated below, and sent by Registered Post (Acknowledgement Due), so as to be received by the REGISTRAR I Returning Offi cer not later thanOct. 13, 2021] TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETTE 55 4.00 p.m. on 25.10.2021 or delivered to the Returning Offi cer during offi ce hours in person or by his I her proposer or by messenger under acknowledgement on or before the date and hour mentioned above.

The nomination papers which are not sent by Registered Post with Acknowledgment Due or not delivered in person by the nominee or by his proposer or by messenger as required above shall be declared invalid.
4. Nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at 4.15 p.m. on 25.10.2021
5. List of valid nominations will be published at 5.00 p.m. on 25.10.2021 in the University premises.
6. A candidate may withdraw his/her candidature by notice in writing sent by Registered Post with Acknowledgement one so as to reach the Returning Offi cer or delivered in person or by other person duly authorized by him/he under acknowledgement to the Returning Offi cer not later than 3.00 p.m. on 01.11.2021. A candidate who has withdrawn his/her candidature shall not be allowed to cancel the withdrawal or to be re-nominated as a candidate for the same election.
7. List of fi nal valid nominations will be published in the notice board of the University as well as in the University Website at 5.00 p.m. on 01.11.2021. A copy of fi nal list of valid nominations will also be sent to the candidates concerned.
8. Polling will be conducted in the premises of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University at No. 69, Anna Salai, Guindy, Chennai-600 032 between 10.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. on 12.11.2021
9. Scrutiny and counting of votes will be done from 3.30 p.m. on 12.11.2021 and the result will be declared on the same day after the process is over.
Note:-
1. The intimation of valid nominations would be sent to the candidates with a copy of the notifi cation of the programme for the election containing last date of withdrawal and date of poll, etc.
2. lf, for example, the fi nal valid nomination is one and such candidate has not withdrawn his/her candidature or where there are more nominations and all the candidates except one have withdrawn their nominations in the manner prescribed, within the time specifi ed for withdrawal, such candidate shall be declared to be duly elected and the result of the election will be published on the same day.
