In exercise of the powers conferred under rule 12, rule 15, rule 16 and rule 18 of the Tamil Nadu Town Panchayats, Municipalities and Corporations (Elections) Rules, 2006 and in supersession of the Notification No. VI(2)/9(a)/2020, published at pages 1-7 of Part VI–Section 2 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extraordinary No. 87, dated the 28th February, 2020, the State Election Commission hereby directs that,- 1. the polling stations for the purpose of conducting poll under the said Rules shall be provided by adopting the polling stations used in the recently held Assembly Elections and only in cases where it becomes absolutely necessary, changes as per requirement of individual wards may be carried out to create new polling station taking into account the field situation and in the manner prescribed in the Instructions–2021 issued in the form of Handbook titled "நகர்ப்புற உள்ளாட்சி தேர்தல்கள்-கையேடு-1-வாக்குச்சாவடிகள் அமைத்தல் மற்றும் வாக்காளர் பட்டியல் தயாரித்தலுக்கான அறிவுரைகள்-2021".

2. the approved list of polling stations shall be published by the Returning Officer at the following places namely:-

(i) Office of the District Election Officer,

(ii) Office of the Town Panchayat, Municipality and Corporation

(iii) such other places as the Returning Officer may consider necessary;

3. the number of names of electors to be included in any part of the electoral roll and the manner of preparing the electoral roll, sketch of the polling station, the title and the specimen of the certificate to be given by the concerned Urban Local Body Electoral Registration Officer at the end of each part shall be as indicated in the Annexure I, II(a), II(b), II(c), III, IV, V(a) and V(b) respectively appended to this notification;

4. the every part of the electoral roll shall have the sketch of the polling area enclosed next to the title page;

6. two copies of the electoral roll shall be supplied free of cost to the recognised political parties as notified by this Commission from time to time.

In exercise of the powers conferred sub-rule (2) of rule 11 of the Tamil Nadu Town Panchayats, Municipalities and Corporations (Elections) Rules, 2006 and in supersession of the earlier Notifications, the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission hereby directs that the Assistant Returning Officer appointed under the said Rules to assist the Returning Officer shall, subject to the control of the Returning Officer, be competent to perform all the duties and functions of the Returning Officer except the following:-

1. Issue of notice of election; and

2. Declaration of result of election, other than the Office of Councillor in respect of the Corporation.
