Election of one Nominee by the members of the Senate to the Vice-Chancellor search committee

for recommending a panel of names for appointment as Vice-Chancellor

Under Statute 7 of Chapter V of the General Statutes of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai and as directed by the Governing Council of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, the Registrar of the University hereby notifies that a permanent vacancy is about to occur in the office of the Vice-Chancellor with effect from 31-12-2022 consequent on the expiry of the term of office of the present Vice-Chancellor, Dr. SUDHA SESHAYYAN, M.S., Necessary action to elect one nominee by the Members of the Senate to the Committee referred to in Section 10(2) of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Act, 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 37 of 1987), to recommend a panel of three names to the Chancellor for making the appointment of the next Vice-Chancellor, will be taken on the publication of the Notification in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette as specified in the Annexure.

Necessary action to elect one nominee by the Members of the Governing Council to the said Committee as provided under Statute 12(2) of Chapter V of the said Statutes will be taken on the publication of the Notification in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.

In case there are more than one nominee nominated by the Senate Members, election will be held as per the following programme.

It is hereby notified, by direction, that the following election to the Syndicate of this University will be held as detailed below:

(a) The election will be held in accordance with rules and procedures stipulated for the conduct of election to the University authorities. (Chapter XIII of Statute)

(b) Nominations "to the Syndicate by Teachers of affiliated Colleges who are members of the Senate" should be made in the prescribed form which may be downloaded from the University website www.msuniv.ac.in Further, nomination papers shall be enclosed in an envelope superscribed as indicated below, and sent by Registered Post (Acknowledgment due), so as to be received by the Returning Officer / Registrar within the date and hour fixed or delivered either in person or by a messenger to the Returning Officer / Registrar within the last date and hour fixed. Nomination papers that are not enclosed in an envelope, superscribed and sent by Registered Post or are not delivered in person or by messenger as required above shall be declared invalid.

(d) Nomination papers should reach the Returning Officer / Registrar not later than Friday, the 15th July 2022 upto 3.00 pm. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on the same day at 4.00 p.m at the Office of the Returning Officer / Registrar.
