BACKWARD CLASSES, MOST BACKWARD CLASSES AND MINORITIES WELFARE DEPARTMENT Amendment to the entry relating to Vannar Community classified as the List of Most Backward Classes under the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of seats in Educational Institutions and of appointments or posts in the services under the State) Act.

No.II(1)/BCMBCMW/39/2022.—In exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (a) of Section 3 of the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of seats in Educational Institutions and of appointments of posts in the Services under the State) Act, 1993 (Tamil Nadu Act 45 of 1994), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendment to the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department Notifi cation No.II(1)/BCMBCMW/36(a)/2008, published at pages 1-9 of Part II-Section 1 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extraordinary, dated the 5th September 2008:-

In the said Noifi cation, in THE SCHEDULE, under the heading, LIST OF BACKWARD CLASSES, BACKWARD CLASS CHRISTIANS, BACKWARD CLASS MUSLIMS, MOST BACKWARDS CLASSES AND DENOTIFIED COMMUNITIES, under the sub-heading IV-List of Most Backward Classes, for Serial No.38 and the entry relating thereto, the following entry shall, be substituted, namely:-
''38 Vannar (including Agasa, Madivala, Ekali, Rajakula, Veluthadar and Rajaka) (except in Kanniyakumari District and Shencottah Taluk of Tenkasi District where the community is a Scheduled Caste)''
