The following Notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Law and Justice, Department of Justice (Appointments Division), Jaisalmer House, 26, Man Singh Road, New Delhi-110 011, dated 24th May 2023 is republished:—

In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice S. Vaidyanathan, Judge of Madras High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 25.05.2023 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice T. Raja, Acting Chief Justice, Madras High Court.

The Government have considered the recommendation of the Hon'ble High Court of Madras to depute Tmt. G.T. Ambika, District Judge of Puducherry Judicial Service, functioning in the Tamil Nadu State Judicial Service as Judge, II Additional Special Court for Exclusive Trial of Cases under N.D.P.S. Act, Chennai to her parent service viz., Puducherry Judicial Service for being posted as Presiding Officer, Industrial Tribunal-cum-Labour Court, Puducherry vice Tmt. V. Sofana Devi ordered to be transferred.

2. The Government accordingly direct that Tmt. G.T. Ambika, District Judge of Puducherry Judicial Service, functioning in the Tamil Nadu State Judicial Service as Judge, II Additional Special Court for Exclusive Trial of Cases under N.D.P.S. Act, Chennai on deputation basis be repatriated to her parent service viz., Puducherry Judicial Service for being posted as Presiding Officer, Industrial Tribunal -cum-Labour Court, Puducherry vice Tmt. V. Sofana Devi ordered to be transferred.

Velumani, Judge of the Madras High Court, as a Judge of the Calcutta High Court and to direct her to assume charge of her Office in the Calcutta High Court.
