[ELECTIONS - TOWN PANCHAYATS, MUNICIPAL COUNCILS AND MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS - CONDUCT OF - ASSISTANT RETURNING OFFICERS - DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS - DIRECTIONS - NOTIFICATION OF.] (S.O.No. 63/2023/TNSEC/ME-1, dated, the 25th July 2023)

In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-rule (2) of rule 18 of the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Rules, 2023 and in supersession of the earlier Notifications, the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission hereby directs that the Assistant Returning Officer appointed under the said Rules to assist the Returning Officer shall, subject to the control of the Returning Officer, be competent to perform all the duties and functions of the Returning Officer except the following:-
1. Issue of notice of election; and
2. Declaration of result of election, other than the Office of Councillor in respect of the Municipal Corporation.
