Election to the Senate - Notification
No. VI-3(b)/1/2024.
It is hereby notified, by direction, that the following Elections will be held as detailed below:

(a) The election will be held in accordance with Statutory provisions laid down in the Act and Statutes of this Univesity.
(b) Nominations should be made in the prescribed form which may be downloaded from the University website. www.msuniv.ac.in
Nomination papers shall be enclosed in an envelope superscripting the name of the Electorate, and seny by Registered post (with Acknowledgment due), so as to be received by the Returning Officer (as noted against each) within the date and hour fixed or delivered either in person or by a messenger to the Returning Officer within the last date and hour fixed. Nomination papers that are not enclosed in an envelope superscripted and sent by Registered Post or not delivered in person or by messenger as required above shall be declared invalid.

(c) An elector shall be eligible to subscribe either as proposer or as seconder in nomination papers, only as many times as there are vacancies but not more.

NOTICE OF ELECTION
Notice of Election of Two members to the Governing Council of the Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai
by the Deans/Principals of the affiliated Colleges providing courses of study and training in Medical Science from
among themselves under Section 21(4)(b) of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Act, 1987

Notice is hereby given that an election by direct polling is to be held in the University premises for electing two members to the Governing Council of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, as per clause (b) of sub-section (4) of Section 21 of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Act, 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 37 of 1987) by the Deans/Principals of the affiliated Colleges providing courses of Study and training in Medical Science from among themselves to fill the arising vacancies. The term of membership in the Governing Council will be for a period of 03(Three) years from the date of publication of the results of the election or the date on which he/she holds the post of Deans/Principals of the affiliated colleges whichever is earlier.
2. Forms of Nomination papers may be obtained from the Registrar, who is the Returning Officer from 27.12.2023 (Wednesday) to 08.01.2024 (Monday) between 11.00 hrs. and 13.00 hrs.
3. Nomination paper may be enclosed in an envelope addressed to the Registrar / Returning Officer and superscribed "Nomination for election to the Governing Council" as indicated below, and sent by Registered Post (Acknowledgement Due), so as to be received by the Registrar / Returning Officer not later than 14.00 hrs. on 08.01.2024 or delivered to the Returning Officer during office hours in person or by his proposer or by messenger under acknowledgement within the date and hour mentioned above.

The nomination papers which are not sent by Registered Post with Acknowledgment Due or not delivered in person by the nominee or by his proposer or by messenger as required above shall be declared invalid.
4. Nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at 15.00 hrs. on 08.01.2024
5. List of valid nominations will be published at 18.00 hrs. on 08.01.2024 in the University premises.
6. A candidate may withdraw his candidature by notice in writing sent by Registered Post with acknowledgement due so as to reach the Returning Officer or delivered in person or by other person duly authorized by him/her under acknowledgement to the Returning Officer not later than 15.00 hrs. on 18.01.2024 (Thursday). A candidate who has withdrawn his / her candidature shall not be allowed to cancel the withdrawal or to be re-nominated as a candidate for the same election.
7. List of final valid nominations will be published by affixing the same on the notice board at the University premises at 18.00 hrs. on 18.01.2024. A copy of Final list of valid nominations will be sent to the candidates.
8. Polling will be conducted in the premises of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University at No.69, Anna Salai, Guindy, Chennai-600 032 between 10.00 hrs. and 15.00 hrs. on 09.02.2024 (Friday) 9. Scrutiny and counting of votes will be done from 15.30 hrs. on 09.02.2024 and the result will be declared after the process is over.
Note:-
The intimation of valid nominations would be sent to the candidates with a copy of the notification of the programme for the election containing all information.
