No.120/2025—.In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 18 (1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Central Act 2 of 1974) read with Section 32 (1) of the said Code, the High Court, Madras and under Section 11 (1) read with Section 26 (1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (Central Act No. 46 of 2023), hereby appoints the following Presiding Officers of the Courts of Small Causes, Chennai. as Special Metropolitan Magistrates / as Special Judicial Magistrates, respectively, for a period of another one year with effect from 12.06.2025. to try and dispose of the cases under Section 138 of Negotiable Instruments Act. which are pending in large number and which are being transferred from the files of Metropolitan Magistrate Courts, Chennai, from time to time and they shall exercise all the powers of Metropolitan Magistrate / Judicial Magistrate, under the said Codes for the said purpose: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
