2. The Office of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Tirunelveli, Official Receiver, Tirunelveli and Judicial Magistrate, Cheranmahadevi and Radhapuram will remain open throughout the vacation and holidays declared above.

3. No Plaint or petition except application for grant of copies and Batta Memos for service and execution of Process will be received by the Civil Courts during the Vacation.

4. The Office of the Copyist, Process Service and Execution Department shall be kept open throughout the vacation and that no arrest warrant shall be executed during the vacation. The Office of the other departments shall remain closed.

Arrangements shall, however, be made.

i. for furnishing the Copies and sending Process.

ii. for transmitting the records to the High Court required in pending Proceedings.

iii. for attending all administrative correspondence.

5. In view of the instructions contained in the Criminal Rules of Practice and Circular Orders and as ordered in High Court's Circular R.O.C.No.2/64-C-3, dated: 29th April, 1964 applications in urgent Criminal matters should be made to the High Court. However, urgent applications can also be made to the vacation Sessions Judge, Tirunelveli if appointed to hear urgent Criminal applications relating to Tirunelveli District.

6. Under Section 30 of the Tamil Nadu Civil Courts Act as amended by Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Act 17 of 1959 if a vacation Civil Judge is appointed for Tirunelveli District. Suits, Appeals and other proceedings of urgent nature will be received and disposed of by him in terms of the Rules that may be framed in this regard.

7. In terms of High Court's Circular P.Dis.No.573/60, dated 22nd August 1960 the Office of the Estate Abolition Tribunal, Tirunelveli will function in full for the purpose of receiving papers etc., during the vacation.

Holidays notified here under will be observed as holidays by all Courts in Tirunelveli District

NOTE:

1. As Uzhavar Thirunal (17.01.2026), Thai Poosam (01.02.2026), Ramzan Idu'l Fitr) (21.03.2026), Independence Day (15.08.2026) and Deepavali (08.11.2026) fall on Saturdays / Sundays, these days are not shown in the above list.

2. All Saturdays and Sundays are holidays except those Saturdays which are fixed as working days for the year 2026.

3. Saturdays falling on 03.01.2026, 07.02.2026, 07.03.2026, 18.04.2026, 06.06.2026, 04.07.2026, 01.08.2026, 19.09.2026 and 21.11.2026 & 05.12.2026 are fixed as working days for all the Subordinate Courts including Family Court functioning in Tirunelveli District.

4. Except the above Saturdays, all other Saturdays are holidays for all the Subordinate Courts, except Family Court.

5. The first two weeks of May 2026 (i.e., from 01.05.2026 to 15.05.2026) are declared as holidays for the Family Court functioning in Tirunelveli District. The Office of the Family Court shall function during the said period.

6. The Family Court functioning in Tirunelveli shall work on 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month, except on 07.11.2026 and on those Saturdays which are delcared as Public Holidays. In lieu of 07.11.2026, all the Family Courts functioning in the State of Tamil Nadu, shall work on 28.11.2026. All other Saturdays are declared as holidays.

திருநெல்வேலியில் உள்ள குடும்ப நல நீதிமன்றம் ஒவ்வொரு மாதமும் 1வது மற்றும் 3வது சனிக்கிழமைகளில் செயல்படும். எனினும், 07.11.2026 அன்றும் மற்றும் அரசு பொது விடுமுறை நாட்களாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட சனிக்கிழமைகளிலும் செயல்படாது. 07.11.2026-க்கு பதிலாக 28.11.2026 அன்று குடும்ப நல நீதிமன்றம் செயல்படும். மற்ற அனைத்து சனிக்கிழமைகளும் விடுமுறை நாட்களாக அறிவிக்கப்படுகின்றன.

Notice is hereby given that the Civil Courts in Tiruvallur District will be closed for the Vacation and Holidays for 2026 as follows:

(CIVIL COURTS)

The Principal District Court, Tiruvallur District, I Additional District Court, Tiruvallur, II Additional District Court, Poonamallee, III Additional District Court, Poonamallee, IV Additional District Court, Ponneri, Special District Court to deal with MCOP Cases, Tiruvallur, Special Sub Court to deal with MCOP Cases, Tiruvallur and Special Sub Court to deal with LAOP Cases, Tiruvallur.

The Subordinate Court's of Tiruvallur, Poonamallee, Ponneri, Tiruttani, Tiruvottiyur, Ambattur and the Court of the District Munsif's of Tiruvallur, Poonamallee, Ponneri, Tiruttani, Tiruvottiyur and Ambattur.

The District Munsif cum Judicial Magistrate Courts, Uthukottai, Pallipattu, Gummidipoondi and Madhavaram on the Civil Side only.

2. HOLIDAYS FOR ALL THE SUBORDINATE COURTS IN THE STATE OF TAMIL NADU

All Saturdays and Sundays except those Saturdays which are fixed as working days in 2026.

NOTE:

3. The following 10 Saturdays are working days for the District judiciary in the State of Tamil Nadu including Family Courts on 03.01.2026, 07.02.2026, 07.03.2026, 18.04.2026, 06.06.2026, 04.07.2026, 01.08.2026, 19.09.2026 21.11.2026 & 05.12.2026.

4. Except the above Saturdays, all other Saturdays are holidays for the District Judiciary in the State of Tamil Nadu, except Family Courts.

No Plaints or Petitions except applications for grant of copies and for service and execution of processes will be received by the Courts during the vacation.

The Office of the Copyist and Process Service and Execution Department will be kept open throughout the vacation but no arrest warrants will be issued during the vacation will be executed.

The Office of other department will remain closed.

Arrangement will however be made

(i) for transmitting records in Appeals etc., to the High Court.

(ii) for all administrative correspondences and

(iii) for furnishing the Copyist and Process Service Department with necessary records and original orders.

Urgent application for bail during the Sessions Judge from the Division during the Recess should be made to the High Court of Judicature, Madras.

Appeals of urgent nature that lie to the District Court, shall during the adjournment, be presented to the High court of Judicatrue, Madras.

In case of vacation Civil Judge is appointed by the Government for the District of Tiruvallur District under section 30 of the Tamil Nadu Civil Courts Act (Central Act III of 1873) as amended by Section 4 of the Madras Act No. XVII of 1959 suit and appeals and other proceeding will be received and disposed of by him in terms of section 30 and the Rules framed in this behalf.
