IMPLEMENTATION OF PRICE SUPPORT SCHEME (PSS) - PROCUREMENT OF GREEN GRAM THROUGH NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL CO-OPERATIVE MARKETING FEDERATION OF INDIA (NAFED) LIMITED DURING RABI 2025-2026.

Crop calendar and Harvesting period of Green gram in the State of Tamil Nadu	A remunerative and stable price for Green gram farmers is very much imperative for increasing agricultural production and productivity. The market price of agricultural produce many times tend to be unstable and volatile resulting in undue losses to the farmers and discourage adoption of the modern technology and required inputs. The Government's price policy for agricultural commodities seeks to ensure remunerative prices to the farmers for their produce with a view to encourage higher investment & production and safeguard the interest of consumers by making available supplies at reasonable prices with low cost of intermediation. The price policy also seeks to evolve a balanced and integrated price structure in the perspective of the overall needs of the economy. In this regard, the Government announces Minimum Support Price (MSP) for major agricultural commodities every year for kharif and Rabi seasons after taking into account the recommendations of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP).
	As per the revised guidelines for Price Support Scheme (PSS) (Pulses, Oil Seeds & Copra) October 2024 issued by the Government of India, (Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare), the notification regarding Crop calendar and harvesting period of Green gram in the State of Tamil Nadu are required to be notified to avail Price Support Scheme. The Government of Tamil Nadu is willing to implement the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for Green Gram during Rabi 2025-26 and its operation in Tamil Nadu and accordingly declare the following details:-

10.	Details of Green gram Production for Rabi Season in Tamil Nadu
	a) Sowing Area	:	1.13 L.Ha. (as per 2024-25 Final Estimate)
	b) Expected production	:	0.28 L.MT(as per 2024-25 Final Estimate)
	c) Average yield	:	248 Kg/Ha. (as per 2024-25 Final Estimate)
	d) Ruling market price		Rs.82 to Rs.85 per Kg of Green gram
	e) Minimum Support price		Rs.87.68/ per Kg for 2025-2026
	f) Major Rabi Green gram growing districts		Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Trichy, Thiruvallur, Salem, Namakkal, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Tiruppur, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Dindigul districts.
