BIENNIAL ELECTION TO THE TELANGANA LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL TO FILL THE ONE SEAT FROM HYDERABAD LOCAL AUTHORITIES' CONSTITUENCY - NOTIFICATION UNDER SECTION 74 OF THE REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE ACT, 1951 REGARDING THE NAME OF MEMBER ELECTED TO THE COUNCIL – PUBLISHED.

The following notification dated: 2nd May, 2019 is published:-

NOTIFICATION

Whereas, in pursuance of the Notification issued by the Governor of Telangana on 25.02.2019 under section 16 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (Central Act No.43 of 1951), for the purpose of filling one seat of the member of the Telangana Legislative Council elected from Hyderabad Local Authorities' Constituency and retiring on the 1st May, 2019 on the expiration of his term of office, the Election Commission of India has issued Notification on 25.02.2019 appointing dates for various stages for conducting elections to the said seat;

And whereas, the election was uncontested and the Returning Officer of Hyderabad Local Authorities' Constituency has declared Sri M.S. Prabhakar Rao of Telangana Rashtra Samithi as elected;

And whereas, according to the Proceedings dt.24.02.2019 of the ECI and Governor's Notification dt.25.02.2019, the term of office of the member to be elected to the Telangana Legislative Council from the said Local Authorities' Constituency will be subject to the decision of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in SLP(C) No. 17123/15 (Election Commission of India Vs Devesh Chandra Thakur & Others);

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred under section 74 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (Central Act No. 43 of 1951), the Government of Telangana hereby notifies the name of the above[ 1 ] G-75. 2 TELANGANA GAZETTE EXTRAORDINARY [Part - V member elected for the Hyderabad Local Authorities' Constituency along with his party affiliation as below and the term of office of the member elected to the above Legislative Council from the said Local Authorities' Constituency will be subject to the decision of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in SLP(C) No. 17123/15 (Election Commission of India Vs Devesh Chandra Thakur & Others).
