NOTIFICATIONS ISSUED BY THE STATE ELECTION COMMISSION FOR INDIRECT ELECTIONS TO MPPs & ZPPs 2019.

No. 2163/TSEC-PR/2019 .– In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 243-K of the Constitution of India and Sections 196, 197 and 147 (11) (as amended) of Telangana Panchayat Raj Act, 2018 (Act No. 5 of 2018), and Rules relating to the Telangana Panchayat Raj Conduct of election of Member, Co-opted, President and Vice-President of Mandal Praja Parishad and Members, Co-opted, Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of Zilla Praja Parishad Rules, 2018 issued in G.O.Ms.No. 27, PR & RD (PTS.III) Dept., dtd: 19.05.2018 (as amended), the State Election Commissioner, Telangana, hereby, directs the Collectors and District Election Authorities concerned to authorise a Gazetted Officer of the Government for every Mandal Praja Parishad in their respective Districts to conduct election of Member (Co-opted), President and Vice-President of their Mandal Praja Parishads (except Mangapet MPP in Mulugu District, Burgampadu in Bhadradri Kothagudem and Jadcherla MPP in Mahabubnagar) in accordance with the procedure laid down in the said rules and specifies the schedule for the elections to the said offices in the Annexure appended to this Notification.

The term of the newly elected body will commence from the date to be notified by the State Election Commission separately.

ANNEXURE

Election Schedule for conduct of election to the offices of Member (Co-opeted), President and

Vice-President of Mandal Praja Parishad.

NOTE:-

1. If for any reason the election of Member (Co-opted) is not held on the said date, the special meeting for election of President and Vice-President of Mandal Praja Parishad shall not be convened and the matter shall be reported to State Election Commission immediately.

2. After completion of election of Member (Co-opted), if for any reason the election of President and Vice- President of Mandal Praja Parishad is not held on the date fixed above i.e., 07.06.2019, it shall be held at 3.00 PM on the next day, i.e., 08.06.2019 whether or not it is observed as holiday by the Mandal Praja Parishad concerned (as per second proviso under Section 147(11) of Telangana Panchayat Raj Act, 2018). If the President or Vice- President election could not be conducted on the next date also, the matter shall be reported to the State Election Commission for fixing another date for holding election (as per sub rule (3) of rule 8 of Rules relating to the conduct of indirect elections).

No. 2164/TSEC-PR/2019.- In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 243-K of he Constitution of India and Sections 196, 197 and 176 (9) (as amended) of Telangana Panchayat Raj Act, 2018 (Act No. 5 of 2018), and Rules relating to the Telangana Panchayat Raj Conduct of election of Member, Co-opted, President and Vice-President of Mandal Praja Parishad and Members, Co-opted, Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of Zilla Praja Parishad Rules, 2018 issued in G.O.Ms.No. 27, PR & RD (PTS.III) Dept., dtd: 19.05.2018 ) (as amended), the State Election Commissioner, Telangana, hereby, directs all the Collectors and District Election Authorities in the State to conduct election of Members (Co-opted), Chairperson, and Vice-Chairperson of their respective Zilla Praja Parishads in accordance with the procedure laid down in the said rules and specifies the schedule for election to the said offices in the Annexure appended to this Notification.

NOTE :-

1. If for any reason the election of Members (Co-opted) is not held on the said date, the special meeting for election of Chairperson and Vice- Chairperson of Zilla Praja Parishad shall not be convened and the matter shall be reported to State Election Commission immediately.

2. After completion of election of Members (Co-opted), if for any reason the election of Chairperson and Vice- Chairperson of Zilla Praja Parishad is not held on the date fixed above i.e., 08.06.2019, it shall be held at 3.00 PM on the next day, i.e., 09.06.2019 whether or not it is observed as holiday by the Zilla Praja Parishad concerned (as per proviso under Section 176(9) of Telangana Panchayat Raj Act, 2018). If the Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson election could not be conducted on the next date also, the matter shall be reported to the State Election Commission for fixing another date for holding election (as per sub rule (3) of rule 19 of Rules relating to the conduct of indirect elections).
