BIENNIAL ELECTIONS TO THE TELANGANA LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL FROM HYDERABAD LOCAL AUTHORITIES' CONSTITUENCY – NOTIFICATION UNDER SECTION 16 OF THE REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE ACT, 1951 (43 OF 1951) BY THE GOVERNOR OF TELANGANA.

NOTIFICATION
WHEREAS, the seat of one member of the Legislative Council of the State of Telangana from Hyderabad Local Authorities' Constituency, is going to become vacant, on 01-05-2023, on the expiration of his term of office; and
WHEREAS, a biennial election has to be held for the purpose of filling the above said vacancy so arising;
and
WHEREAS, the term of office of the member(s) to be elected to the State Legislative Council from the said Local Authorities; Constituency shall be subject to the decision of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in SLP(C) No. 17123/2015 (Election Commission of India Vs Devesh Chandra Thakur & Others);
2 TELANGANA GAZETTE EXTRAORDINARY [Part - VNOW, THEREFORE, in pursuance of Section 16 of the Representation of the people Act, 1951 (Central Act 43 of 1951), the Election Commission of India hereby recommends the 16th February, 2023 (Thursday), as the date on which the Governor of the State of Telangana may, by notification published in the official Gazette of the State on the said date, be pleased to call upon the afore-said Local Authorities' Constituency, to elect one member to the Legislative Council of the State, for the purpose of filling the above said vacancy, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder.
